Greene High Jazz Band I Presents First Annual Jazz Show
Greene High School hosts its first annual Jazz Show on March 23 at 8 p.m. featuring the band with special guest Tom Gause of UNI Jazz Band I. Gause, a Newton Iowa native and UNI senior, plays trumpet across ensembles and will perform several solos. Tickets available through Mel's TV Tower Pharmacy Barnes V-Store Band Office and Principal's Office or via band members.

The second annual Pinewood Derby will be held at the Community Center on Wednesday evening March 28 at 7:30 pm. Greene Jaycees provide a 7 lane track for the Cubs. Cars are built from kits sold at Dralles with included instructions. Cars may be painted any color and given chosen names and numbers. An official scale at the Greene Recorder will weigh each car beforehand.

Collection Day for Handicap Village Sets March 17
Senior Girl Scouts plan a collection at the Community Center from 9 to 12 for Handicap Village in Clear Lake. They will deliver items to the village on March 31 to stock the general store, seeking clothing, bedding, toys, small appliances, and related goods in good condition. Embroidery Club Sells Liberty Plates in Greene
The Greene Embroidery Club, a Federated Woman's Club dealer, offers General Federation of Women's Club liberty plates to commemorate the U S bicentennial. The Woman's Club of Greene also sells them. Moulds Destroyed in Ceremonies at Liberty Bell
During July 4 1916 ceremonies at the Liberty Bell moulds were destroyed. Officials confirmed the act occurred as part of the Independence Day events, with witnesses noting the ceremonial destruction of fixtures used in the display.
