Nine young women compete for Butler County Dairy Princess 1976 on June 19 at the Allison Fairgrounds. The Greene Invitational softball tourney runs Thursday and Saturday with two top area teams Clarksville 10 1 and Sheffield Chapin undefeated ranked seventh meeting in the opening round at 5 p.m. Other first round games pair Charles City with St Ansgar Rockford vs Parkersburg and Allison vs Greene. Consolation semis start at 1 p.m. Saturday, championship semis at 3 p.m., finals at 6 30. Thursday admission 1 adults 50 cents students. Saturday 1 50 adults 1.00 students.

Greene bicentennial water events highlight July 5 races
Greene celebrates its bicentennial with the Last Pioneer Canoe Race from Gates Bridge to city park at 2:00, registration 1:30. For the new Huck Finn Raft Race contestants build a raft from plastic milk cartons, register at Round Grove Country Club, start 3:30. Both events welcome all ages. no fees or prizes, watermelon at 7:00, fireworks around 8:30 at Perrin Park.
