Iowa State honors 120 alumni with gold medals

At Ames on May 4 and 5 Iowa State University honored 120 alumni with gold medals for 50 years or more since graduation. Recipients include one from class of 1895, one from class of 1900, eighteen from 1905, twenty eight from 1910, and seventy two from the 1915 class. Mr and Mrs Roy J Pooley of the class of 1910 received awards.

Butler County Dairymen Honored For Outstanding DHIA Records

Six Butler County dairymen received certificates for top DHIA herd production for 1964 65. Duane Smith of Greene led with an average 16580 pounds of milk and 610 pounds of butterfat per cow while others met the 450 pounds butterfat per cow benchmark.

Speeding fines issued to Hogan Ross and Rossow in regional court

Donald Phillip Hogan of Rockwell paid a $6.00 fine and $4.00 costs for speeding. Garry Roland Ross of Greene paid a $10.00 fine and $4.00 costs. Duane Christen Rossow of New Hampton paid a $10.90 fine and $4.00 costs for speeding.

Ladies Invitational Golf and Bridge Tournament Set at Greene Country Club

The Ladies Invitational Golf and Bridge tournament will be held at the Greene Country Club on Wednesday June 23 open to all Iowa Golf Association members. Mr and Mrs Wayne Thomason and family attended the Ottumwa boat races on Sunday. Terry Thomason earned two second places in A Utility a first and second in B Utility and fourth in B Hydro. He also received the high point trophy in A Utility from the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Max Dougherty, newly hired manager and swimming instructor of the Greene pool under construction, announces Red Cross swimming lessons to be offered later. Men's City Golf Tournament Qualifying At Round Grove Club

Qualifying rounds for the Men’s City Tournament at Round Grove Golf and Country Club must be completed with scores by Sunday night June 20. The event is flighted with the low 12 in the championship flight and the rest in a separate flight. All matches are 18 hole match play. George Belknap Died in Washington in Vancouver

Mr and Mrs P Shultz of Allison received word on Tuesday morning of the death of her uncle George Belknap in Vancouver. He resided in Greene for years and later moved to Vancouver. Survivors include his wife and three sons. Funeral and burial services will be in Vancouver.

County Board of Review Reconvened in Butler County

The Iowa State Tax Commission orders the Butler County Board of Review to reconvene from June 10 to June 20 for disaster area residents unable to file protests due to cleanup work. Eighty seven counties are listed as disaster areas, including Butler.

Pamela Dralle Represents Greene At Band Festival

Pamela Dralle, daughter of Mr and Mrs James Dralle of Greene, was named Miss Greene at the 27th North Town Band Festival in Mason City today. A senior last year, she played drums in the marching band for two years, has drum majorette experience, served in choir and orchestra, earned an award for music, and plans to attend Luther College this fall to study music and perform in band and vocal groups.

Summer Playground Opens at Perrin Park Next Week
