At Ames on May 4 and 5 Iowa State University honored 120 alumni with gold medals for 50 years or more since graduation. Recipients include one from class of 1895, one from class of 1900, eighteen from 1905, twenty eight from 1910, and seventy two from the 1915 class. Mr and Mrs Roy J Pooley of the class of 1910 received awards.
Six Butler County dairymen received certificates for top DHIA herd production for 1964 65. Duane Smith of Greene led with an average 16580 pounds of milk and 610 pounds of butterfat per cow while others met the 450 pounds butterfat per cow benchmark.
Donald Phillip Hogan of Rockwell paid a $6.00 fine and $4.00 costs for speeding. Garry Roland Ross of Greene paid a $10.00 fine and $4.00 costs. Duane Christen Rossow of New Hampton paid a $10.90 fine and $4.00 costs for speeding.
Grace Miller born March 1 1912 in Allison daughter of Paul De Bower and Hoodier De Bower died June 10 Mercy Hospital Waverly at 53. She married Henry F Miller August 26 1934 at St James Lutheran Allison and lived in Bristow. Survived by husband daughter Lynn Platte Sumner son Darrell Allison brothers Henry G Henrichs Paul DeBower sister Mrs Robert Feltus Allison. Funeral Saturday 1 30 at St Peter's Lutheran Greene Rev Merritt Bombhoff officiating Vogel Funeral Home handled burial Wilmar Cemetery.
The Ladies Invitational Golf and Bridge tournament will be held at the Greene Country Club on Wednesday June 23 open to all Iowa Golf Association members. Coffee at 8 15 a m tee off 9 a m lunch 11 30 to 1 00 served by Mrs Russell Duncan and committee. Bridge in the afternoon prizes for golf and bridge. All ladies day members urged to attend.
Mr and Mrs Wayne Thomason and family attended the Ottumwa boat races on Sunday. Terry Thomason earned two second places in A Utility a first and second in B Utility and fourth in B Hydro. He also received the high point trophy in A Utility from the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Jim Marshall of Greene dominated the night at Nashua's Big 4 Speedway taking first in the trophy dash for the top six point men and also winning the Consolation race.
Max Dougherty, newly hired manager and swimming instructor of the Greene pool under construction, announces Red Cross swimming lessons to be offered later. Start time depends on pool completion. age groups and times to be published. Children from Greene and nearby areas, including Dougherty, will attend. Instructors include Diane Cheney and Martha Stuntz. Lifeguards and water safety aides are Craig Allison, Pam Dralle and Marge Marsh.

Qualifying rounds for the Men’s City Tournament at Round Grove Golf and Country Club must be completed with scores by Sunday night June 20. The event is flighted with the low 12 in the championship flight and the rest in a separate flight. All matches are 18 hole match play. The champion flight winner will represent the club in the Tournament of Champions in Atlantic Iowa this August.
The Ramblers beat Manly 9 to 1 to extend their perfect 4-0 conference mark. Pitcher Mark Ott tossed five innings with two hits allowed and six strikeouts, backed by multiple Ramblers with key hits including doubles by Allen and Dralle and a trio of runs driven in by Greene.
Mr and Mrs P Shultz of Allison received word on Tuesday morning of the death of her uncle George Belknap in Vancouver. He resided in Greene for years and later moved to Vancouver. Survivors include his wife and three sons. Funeral and burial services will be in Vancouver.
The Iowa State Tax Commission orders the Butler County Board of Review to reconvene from June 10 to June 20 for disaster area residents unable to file protests due to cleanup work. Eighty seven counties are listed as disaster areas, including Butler.
Pamela Dralle, daughter of Mr and Mrs James Dralle of Greene, was named Miss Greene at the 27th North Town Band Festival in Mason City today. A senior last year, she played drums in the marching band for two years, has drum majorette experience, served in choir and orchestra, earned an award for music, and plans to attend Luther College this fall to study music and perform in band and vocal groups.
Perrin Park announces the summer playground program starting Monday June 21 with 1 30 registration. Open to all school age children with parental permission notes. Supervisor Miss Sharon announces a small fee to cover craft costs while the emphasis remains on free crafts such as potholder weaving figurine painting and bracelet weaving.

Winners include Senior boys John McRoberts and Dick Fischer in first and second with 44 and 50 respectively, Flora Stubbe and Rita McKinley atop Senior girls with 57 and 61, Junior boys Greg Dralle and Wendell Stuntz tied for first at 47, Karl Sneed at 50, Junior girls Marceilyn Curtis 53 and Melinda Dralle 58, Pee wee boys Dick Stuntz 46 and Larry Lester 50, Dan Schrneder 59, Jason Klassi 72, and Wee wee girls Susan Maxson 68 and Debbie Martzahn 79.

Laverne Kehoe has received a National Defense Education Act scholarship from the National Science Foundation to study mathematics this summer at Fresno State College in Fresno California. Classes will run for eight weeks.
Dairy Day in Allison next Saturday features 25 princess candidates led by Greene and Jefferson entries. Events run 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Bar-B-Que, rides on Main Street, and a 7:30 p.m. coronation of the 1965 Butler County Dairy Princess at the Courthouse area festivities.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean H Brinkman of Colorado Springs Colorado announce the birth of their son Randall Dean born June 11. He weighed T pounds 13 ounces. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs W J Daub and Mr. and Mrs Theodore Brinkman of Greene.
Joe Van Eschen 36 principal of the Kersburg Community school died Friday evening June 11 at his home in Parkersburg from a heart attack. Survived by wife and 9 month old son Bradles, mother Rose Van Eschen of Ackiea, twin brother John Van Eschen of Greene, brothers Warren Cecar Rapids Frederick Denver Henry Vinton, sister Mrs Chuck Rector Moline Illinois. Funeral was Monday at 1307 p m at the Reformed Church in Applington with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery Parkersburg.
