Lieutenant Ted Boller departed Labrador Tuesday heading to Melville Air Force Base after a ten day visit with his parents Mr and Mrs Carlton Boller.
Winners listed from the Greene Bucks drawing last Saturday evening are Mrs. Fred Feldman receiving $20.00, Lyle Schafer $10.00, and Mrs. August Grendler $5.00. Greene Buck drawings will continue each Saturday night at 8 45 through August.
Robert Nordmeyer Jr. left Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital in Charles City after a May 24 admission for injuries from a 25 foot barn fall while shingling. He had surgery on his left arm and received head injury treatment.
Qualifying rounds for the local golf tournament should be completed by Sunday evening June 19 with scores turned in by that time so golfers can be slighted. The first round of tournament play must be completed by June 26. The club champion will be eligible to participate in the State Country Club Tournament at Atlantic. Dave Everds of Allison won last year's local tournament.
Ellis Bammann of Areene suffered a heart attack last Friday evening and was admitted to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City for treatment.

Funeral services were held Monday in St. John’s Church Waterloo for Joseph Murray 49 of Milwaukee Wisconsin. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery Waterloo. Mr Murray died Friday at St Luke’s Hospital Milwaukee after a cancer illness. He is survived by his wife and four sisters Mary Carpenter Juneau Mabel Lavenz Cedar Lake Nora Zahller Pueblo and Mrs Vernon Weinberg Greene.
Greene Jaycees host a voluntary Vehicle Safety-Check on Saturday June 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 30 p.m. at the post office area. Motorists are urged to inspect brakes tires lights steering tires exhaust glass wipers mirrors horn and seat belts while drivers are reminded to check driving conduct for overall safety.

Mr and Mrs Keith Dralle of Mason City announce the birth of a daughter on June 5. The infant weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Lawrence Dralle of Greene and Mr and Mrs R N Conway of Rockwell.
Iowa public assistance payments for May totaled 4 936 778 with increases over April. Old Age Assistance 2 508 639 and Aid to Depend ent Children 1 935 993 led the figures. Butler County funded Old Age 18 214 to 178 people and Medical Aid to the Aged 787 to 39. Aid to Dependent Children 7 910 to 55 cases involving 181 persons. Aid to the Blind 1 010 to 7 and Aid to Disabled 1 690 to 20 recipients. Total expenditures 29 611.
About 3 30 A M Friday five persons escaped serious injury when their vehicle left the county blacktop and went into a ditch four and a half miles east of Greene. Driver Stanley Dana 22 of Tonia and passengers Peggy Radall Kenneth Raymond Gary Kraft James Taft and Charles City were named. Dana faced charges for no Iowa license and no registration license plates paid 48 00 in fines and costs after appearing in Allison Justice Court. Deputy Marvin Barth investigated.

Mrs. Cecil Harris announces that her son Jerry Caldwell has been advanced to Staff Sergeant after twelve years in the U S Army. He has been stationed in Paris, France for two years and will return to the United States in August for reassignment.
Max Dougherty, pool manager, announced an adult night at the pool next Wednesday from 6 30 to 8 30 PM. After 8 30 PM the pool will welcome children as well providing family access later in the evening.
Mrs Ruth Haughenbury's sixth grade class turned in surplus club money as a donation to the Heart Fund.
Greene High School Ramblers dropped a 1 0 decision to Rockford in eight innings as Lynn Gabe pitched a no hit game through eight frames and struck out ten. Rockford won with an unearned run in the eighth. Neal fanned 18 for Rockford. Greene later beat St Ansgar 2 0 with Gabe earning the win on five scattered hits. Nettleton doubled and Trees drove in a run. Hagarty scored on an error. Schedule shows games through July 1 at various sites with 7 00 p m starts.
Butler County dairymen Duane L. Smith and Frank H. Reinis received Dairy Herd Improvement Association Production Certificates for herds averaging over 450 pounds of butterfat per cow for May 1, 1965 to April 30, 1966. Smith's 30 Holsteins produced 16,432 pounds of milk and 611 pounds of butterfat. Reinis's 31 Holsteins yielded 14,010 pounds of milk and 510 pounds of butterfat.
A rootworm digging school will be held Friday June 24 from 1 30 to 3 30 pm at the Vernon Stockdale farm east of Austinville on highway 20. Kay A Connelly County Extension Director says the session aims to teach attendees how to find and identify corn rootworm larvae and determine if control is needed with Dr Harold Stockdale Extension Entomologist at Iowa State University in charge.
Mrs. Robert Bixler and children Roy and Shaun of Rolling Meadows Illinois visit her parents Mr and Mrs Clift Burroughs in Greene. Mr Bixler will return for them this weekend bringing his family.
The Rev. Max Diemer, missionary to New Guinea, will visit St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilmar on Sunday June 12. He will address children at 8 45 am during Sunday School, preach at 10 am, and present New Guinea slides after a potluck at 8 pm. His wife Mrs. Diemer is the former Dar lene Voigts of Allison.
Summer school at Greene Elementary begins Monday June 13 at 8:00 a.m. through July 8 with July 4 off. Pupils should arrive promptly and enter at the North door. The group gathers in the auditorium before moving to classrooms. Hours are 8:60 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
A series of free golf lessons followed by tournament play will be sponsored by the Women's Club with the cooperation of Round Grove Golf and Country Club. Instructors Tim Heiden wirth and Greg Drakle, high school golf team members, invite interested fifth through twelfth graders to meet at the golf course Friday June 10 at 9:00 am. Bring pencil, paper, old golf balls, and a driving wood if available. Those with clubs or extra balls may loan them by contacting the instructors.
Butler County Dairy Day activities in Greene on Saturday June 25 start with a 9:30 am Dairy Princess Contest judging, noon luncheon, 1:30 pm public events, a free dairy bar, and a 7:30 pm talent show on Main Street. Prizes awarded, entries urged, Ann Schilling attends.
The Babe Ruth team opened with a 5–0 loss as Rudd led by strong defense. In a 7–0 Little League win, Bryan Trees pitched a no hit no run game with 11 baserunners against Little Leaguers. Ricky Landers hit a 2 run homer. Dave Potter, Joe Shultz, Bryan Trees, Ricky Ebling, Greg Landers, and Dave Eimers added hits.
Wayne Ritter, a service man for Greene Farm Equipment and Agriculture Company, completed a one week course in installation and service of air conditioners at the Lennox Service School in Marshalltown.
Baseball practice for the week of June 13 moves to Tuesday and Wednesday mornings June 14 and 15. Babe Ruth players meet 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. while last year's 2nd and 3rd graders go 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Little Leaguers practice 10:36 to 11:45 a.m. The boys local league opens Friday, June 17.
James Steere son of Mr and Mrs Lea Steere has come home from St Mary's Hospital Rochester Minnesota where he was a patient for five weeks after a car crash. He is greatly improved and can help with farm work. A check up is scheduled in three months.
Marine Corporal Richard D Backer son of Mr and Mrs August Backer of Greene was advanced in rank with Force Logistic Support Group B at Chu Lai Vietnam. Promotion based on time in service rank military appearance and knowledge of selected military subjects.
Mr and Mrs August Grender learned their son Paul was admitted for major emergency surgery at Central Hospital 26 Central Street Summerville MA last Friday. He is expected to remain hospitalized for two weeks.
