The Greene Junior Legion opened its season with an 8 to 4 win over host Hampton. Nile Myers and Mark Ott pitched for Greene, allowing 3 hits and 4 runs. Mr and Mrs Bruce Marsh announce the birth of their son Steven Miles on Monday morning June 3 in a San Francisco hospital. The infant weighed 6 pounds 6 ounces at birth.

She has All-State Orchestra experience, NHS member, debate and drama participant, and district champion two years. Her parents are Mr and Mrs Harry B Green of Greene. her father is a contractor.
Airman First Class Dean Barnett and his wife and son have returned to Kessler Air Force Base Biloxi Mississippi after a two weeks furlough spent with his mother Mrs Bob Barnett and family in their home.

The Greene Locker team topped all entries at the Cellar-Dweiler Bowling Tournament in Waterloo last weekend with a total of 2,818 pins. Individual scores included Don Arends 507, Lloyd Blum 451, Dick Witwer 490, Gerald Kingery 425, and Kenneth Stewart 475. Gamble placed fourth with 2,785 and Van Dyke Limestone eighth with 2,749. Hites Beauty Salon finished ninth in the ladies division with 2,344.
Plans finalize for the annual Girl Scout Day Camp to be held at Old Round Grove the week of June 17 to 22. Camp director is Mrs. Lois McBurney and business manager is Mrs. Daisy Stubbe. Seventy five girls from Clarksville Allison and Greene counties have registered. A staff workshop will occur at Old Round Grove on Friday June 7 starting at 9 a.m. Mrs. Elizabeth Jones of Charles City will assist. Lunch is provided. attendees should bring their own tableware. McBurney invites adult volunteers to contact her at 823-4567.
The Department of Social Welfare of Iowa reports March 1963 aid for Butler County totaling 296 cases and 22,062 dollars. Old age assistance funded 12,392 dollars to 230 persons, with 4,940 for nursing care and 2,422 for medical expenses. Dependent children totaling 172 persons received 5,964 dollars in grants and 644 for medical costs. Tenure aid to blind funded 1,394 dollars with 87 for medical expense, while nine cases received 712 dollars from aid to disabled.
Butler County 4-H members Renee Hagarty Judy Frey Al son Douglas Boelman and Bruce Brenemann were picked by county 4-H committees to join the Georgia exchange. They will stay with Georgia 4-H families in Thomas County June 23 to 30 to observe 4-H activities. Four Georgia delegates will visit Butler County July 14 to 20 to observe local 4-H programs.
