Greene girls win opening game in Babe Ruth tourney
The Greene girls softball team opened the Babe Ruth Tournament in Marble Rock with an 18 to 8 win over Rudd in five innings. Linette Next pitched, striking out 2 and walking 4, while Joan Downing led hitters with a triple and a single. Lori Schafer, Chris Heitland, and Pat Holtz each had two runs. In the next game Greene fell to Rockford 13 to 3, with Lana Smith recording the team's lone hit. Linette Next earned a spot on the all tournament team.
