9th Annual Husband and Wife State Eclectic Golf Tourney

Paul Robert Knox died July 4 1976 from complications of leukemia and diabetes at Waverly Municipal Hospital. Born Sept 23 1913 near Hawkeye Iowa he lived and worked as farmer, salesman and manager before owning Greene Rendering Co from 1961 to 1971. Survived by wife Berdean and brother Lyle, service conducted by Rev Hinds with Masonic rites, interment West Union Cemetery.

Girl Scouts to Pick Up Papers Saturday Route Planned
The Senior Girl Scouts will collect papers this Saturday July 24 at 10 a.m. Volunteers should place papers at the curb in boxes bags or bundles. A marked vehicle serves rural residents at the parking lot across from Pooley Lumber Co. Papers are to be delivered to Harold's Service Center near Nashua for insulation manufacture.

Union services set with bicentennial worship at Greene
David and Pam Fehr of Wes Bent Iowa are lined up for a union worship at 9:00 a.m. Sunday July 25 at the United Methodist Church of Greene to mark the bicentennial. The couple recently served as guest program personnel at the Father-Daughter Banquet in March 1975. David specializes in lay preaching and Pam, a former Miss Iowa, is noted as an accomplished singer.

Red Cross swimming lessons at Greene Pool end July 26
Red Cross swimming lessons at Greene Pool run through Monday morning July 26. A swim night on July 26 at 7 30 p m invites parents and friends to view skills, with the pool open to the public free afterward. An Adult Night is set for August 5 from 7 to 9 p m. Certificates awarded to eight participants including Jim Van Eschen and Rich Allison.

Ramblerette Softball season ends with loss and sectional exit
The Greene Ramblerettes dropped to Allison Bristow 12-6 in the final regular season game, with Nancy Delp pitching well early as Greene led 3-0 before seven runs in the fifth swung the game. In sectional action at Clarksville, Plainfield defeated Greene 18-8 as Vonnie Heitland went 2 for 2 and Laura Harris hit .435 on the season.

Allison Defeats Greene 4-3 In Eight Innings Sectional
Greene fell to Allison in eight innings 4 to 3 as Dana Uhlenhopp started the rally with a key steal and bunt. Allison tied it in the seventh on two walks and a Dave Harms single, then won in the eighth after a walk, wild pitch, and a grounder for the final run. Paul Anderson pitched well for Allison, allowing only three hits. Nashua beat Allison 2-1 in the semifinals and advances to face Rockwell for the sectional title at Sheffield.

Practice Trap Shooting at Greene Club Range
The Greene Sportsmans Club hosts a practice trap shoot this Sunday July 25 at the new range ten miles south of Greene at the old bin site. A new electric trap is installed for public inspection. Shooting is from 1 30 to 5 p.m. All are invited to participate. Merchandise shoots will resume later.
