The Marble Rock News reports the Marble Rock High School annual picnic and reunion set for the second Sunday in August, this year the 13th, at Marble Rock Park barring rain. Dinner starts at noon with coffee and Kool-Aid. Alumni notices sent. Class of 1957 added to the mailing list. late grads urged to attend.
The July meeting of the Union Busy Bees 4 H Club at Lisa Staudt's home included 11 members and two leaders. Plans were set for the 11th anniversary of the club at the Local Achievement Show with invitations to former leaders and long time members. Pat Ewald spoke on Freeze Your Own or Buy, while Pat Dolan and Lorrie Nielsen demonstrated a Fresh Fruit Salad or Dessert and discussed canning prep for exhibits. Reporter Jane Dolan.
Eleven members of Marble Rock Scout Troop 28 camped July 2 8 at the Winnebago Scout Grounds. Participants included Dennis Carney Gary Morriss Steven Howell David Howell Ricky Truex Martie Koenigsfeld Verle Smith Billy Heeren Craig Marsh Martie Ackley and Dean Maupin with Dennis Shultz of Rockford Troop joining. Supervising adults were Arnold Haller Scoutmaster and Arnold Staudt Don Marsh Kenneth Bucklen William Borchard Robert Carney and Eugene Staudt.
Mrs Leon Marsh hosted the Contract Bridge Club on Wednesday evening. Guests included Mrs Francis Knapp of Greene Mrs Clarence Adams and Mrs Walter Bohl. After a seven o clock dessert luncheon served by Mrs Marsh high score at the tables went to Mrs Cecil Swant with second to Mrs Ed Enabait Mrs Adams won the guest prize.
Bethel Baptist Church hosted the Baptist Women Missionary Circle meeting on Thursday afternoon led by Mrs. Gerald Adams with a devotional and missionary lesson. The gathering featured cookie day with cookies from members and cold drinks served at the close.
The Betterway Club met at the Boulevarde in Charles City Tuesday at noon for a Smorgasbord dinner and an afternoon of cards. Guests included Mrs. Wendell Boggess. High honors went to Mrs. Willard Marsh, with Mrs. Roger Staudt in second and Mrs. Dick Rohwedder as traveler.
Marble Rock residents welcomed Ervin Solberg and family of Floyd and William Davis and son of Charles City to a Sunday dinner at Mr. and Mrs. Clark King’s home. Others visited Greene and Charles City households, attended Iowa American Legion Auxiliary events in Des Moines, and voyage to Wisconsin and Belle Plaine. Community notes include hospital surgery recovery, family visits, and a Busy Bees 4-H Club picnic in Greene with a page 7 continuation.
