They flew Waterloo to Chicago to Washington DC and on to Frankfurt, then Brenman where they will visit relatives in Leer Ostfriesland for nearly a month. They plan to return to Greene on August 22.

Ramblers Lose to New Hampton in Sectional Final
The High School Ramblers were defeated 2 to 1 by New Hampton in the sectional tournament at Sumner last Wednesday evening. Errors shaped the game as Greene and New Hampton combined for seven miscues. Greene scored first in the 1st on an error when Ruffridge walked and crossed the plate. New Hampton drew level with a third inning tally on Kennedy and Roth, then took the lead in the 5th as Ball reached on an error and Katz plated on a single. Eimers pitched for Greene allowing four hits with three strikeouts and four walks. Kuennen fanned ten Rambler batters while giving up one hit.

Ted Stirling Completes Marine Combat Training at Pendleton
Marine Private Ted K. Stirling, son of Mrs. Dorothy M. Stirling of Clarksville, completed four weeks of individual combat training at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton California. He logged over 200 hours under combat veteran instructors learning weapons, patrols, mine and booby trap removal, and standard infantry arms. He will then receive at least four weeks of specialist training before joining his first permanent unit.

Scouts Camp At Marble Rock Field Camp Experience
Seventeen members of Boy Scout Troop 26 camped at the Winnebago Scout Grounds at Marble Rock last week. They engaged in axe yard, rope yard, rifle range, nature study, boating and canoeing, swimming, archery, cooking and soil and water conservation, with a water carnival and Order of the Arrow tapping-out ceremony by a large group of parents on Wednesday night. Westerman Released From Fargo Hospital After Rabies Treatment
Donald Westerman a science instructor at Greene Community School was released from a Fargo North Dakota hospital after nearly a month of rabies treatment. He contracted the disease when saliva from a rabid skunk entered a hand cut while conducting field research at North Dakota State College. He remains confined to his apartment at 1016 14th Street North until the full vaccine series is completed.

Greene, Iowa, artist Gary C. Ogloe, a UNI art graduate student, opens a one man exhibition in the Georgian Lounge at UNI Commons. The oils dominate with some acrylics, watercolors and pastels. Greene Ramblers defeat Nashua Bulldogs eight to three to capture the Shell Rock Valley League title for the second straight year. Greene's pitchers held Nashua to one run as Joe Shultz Warren Johnson and teammates sparked the offense with key hits. Nashua led early but Greene rallied and finished strong with Dick Stuntz closing out with two and two thirds hitless innings.

Butler County's 111th annual fair starts Thursday in Allison running five days through July 31 with Jose Chitwood Thrill Show, Little Britches Rodeo, horse races, lamb greased pig and calf scrambles, wrestling and tractor pull. Invitational Golf Tourney at Round Grove Club Next Weekend
