Local Girls Head to Girl Scout Round-up in Idaho
Carolyn Kehoe Margaret Sen ne and Ann Rottler report arrival at Sand Point Idaho for the Girl Scout Round-up after leaving Mason City and boarding a special train car in St Paul. They spent a day on the train and Thursday at Glacier National Park meeting Black Foot Indians before reaching the 30 mile distant campsite where state songs greeted them. The Butler County Board of Education approved a 1966 budget of 82,425, up from 73,175 in 1965. General Control and Supervision account for 28.5 percent, Capital Outlay and repair and Fixed Charges for 44 percent, services for schools at 67.1 percent. Special services include a Special Education Director, Psychologist, Speech Therapist, Guidance Coordinator and Counselor, two special class teachers, and a central unit. A 4,000 increase funds establishing an Area Post High School Vocational Technical program, the county’s share in starting the school. The board justifies the higher cost and new items as expanding education for youth and adults.

Mrs. Mary Ellen McCracken 83 died last Wednesday at Clark Nursing Home Greene after a year there. Born August 13 1831 to James and Nancy Pringle in Butler County rural area. Married Clarence McCrecken April 27 1904. farmed Greene community forty years then retired to Greene twenty five years ago. Lifelong Christian Church of Greene member and 53 year Rebekah lodge member with chivalry degree. Survivors: husband Clarence brother Elmer Pringle Shell Rock and several nieces and nephews.
