Funeral services for William Clair Fleener were held Sunday July 15 at New Sharon. He is the father of Mrs. Jim Nettleton. Attendees from Greene included Jim and Fred Nettleton, Louis Nettleton, and Clair Nettleton. Clair Nettleton and Joey attended graduation at New London Connecticut where Bruce Nettleton, their son, graduated from Submarine School. Bruce will serve aboard the USS Thomas Jefferson after returning home with his family, stopping at Niagara Falls en route.

El Ziegler Sun Reception Set for July 29
A reception for YFU student El Ziegler is planned at the church on Sunday July 29 after a TU student event. It will be hosted by the Keith Drake and Marvin Acker families. Carl Frascht, formerly of Greene, scored a hole in one on July 7 at Treynor Country Club, hole 6, 172 yards with a No 3 wood, and won first in the day's play. He finished second in the 4th flight on Sunday.

Centennial Day At Church Of The Brethren Draws 300 plus
The Church of the Brethren marked its centennial with events on Sunday drawing about 300 members former members and friends. Rev Maurice Frevert led the 11 am service with James Parks of Detroit delivering the message on Past Present and Future. A noon meal served 265 attendees. An afternoon service featured Rev Gerald Mease with former members recalling memories. Red Sox and Dodgers win in high scoring Little League games
In Little League action the Red Sox beat the Twins 9 to 4 on two three run homers by Danny Meyne while Boyd Barth went 3 for 3. The Orioles edged the Cardinals 5 to 4 in extras with Kevin Heitland driving in the go ahead run. The Dodgers toppled the Giants 9 to 3 as Todd Frasht opened with a home run and Jeff Eimers added three extra-base hits. In a later game the Twins and Orioles battled to an 8 8 tie before Baltimore won in extras. The Cardinals beat the Giants 6 to 3 behind Pat Nicholas. The Dodgers edged the Red Sox 7 to 6 with Brad Uhlenhopp delivering a bases loaded homer to seal the comeback.
