Church of the Brethren marks 100th anniversary of the Greene church building and 116th anniversary of the Coldwater Township congregation with special services on Sunday July 15 1973. Rev Maurice Frevert to lead 11:00 worship sermon by Rev James Parks Detroit Mich. Dinner at noon. Informal service at 2:00 led by Rev Gerald Mease Fredericksburg IA with lunch after. Regular union worship and Sunday school precede events.

To Build a Better Tomorrow Girl Scout Day Camp in Beery Woods
Brownie and Girl Scout day camp held June 18 to 22 at Heery Woods outside Clarksville featured 58 participants with 8 aides 10 leaders and 4 staff. Five units operated their own camp headquarters with separate flags and cooking areas while engaging in activities including first aid deer and wildlife viewing, craft ideas, and outdoor cooking. An open house on Thursday showcased meals and songs as the event closed with a Scout's Own and flag ceremony.

Joe Needham Bikes 50 Miles In Five Hours
Joe Needham left his farm home south of Greene at 9 30 a m on Tuesday July 3 riding a five speed bicycle. He reached the grandparents home at Clear Lake after five hours and covered 50 miles at an average 10 mph. The family joined him July 4 at Streyffeler’s and camped at Madrid July 5 6.

Benefit baseball games set for Sunday July 15
The annual benefit games will be held at 7:30 p.m. on the local diamond with Local League and Little Leaguers facing Moms in the first game and Farmers against Merchants in the second. Proceeds fund summer teams equipment and a trip to see the Minnesota Twins on August 4. Local players will seek ticket sales and appreciate community support.
