Butler County farm operators must file federal gas tax refund claims by October 1 for the period July 1, 1958, to June 30 of this year. County Extension Director Kay Connelly notes ISU Farm Economist H. B. Howell says the IRS will mail 1959 forms to those who filed in 1958. If you did not file last year, obtain a form at the Allison Extension Office or a local IRS Office. Form filling is easy, but accurate purchasing records are still required.

An Iowa State University home economics education graduate from Ames, she was chosen by the Extension Council to fill the vacancy. She grew up on a Grundy County dairy farm with her parents Mr and Mrs Francis Winslow and sister Carolyn. In Grundy County 4 H she was a county officer and showed on a blue ribbon state fair team. At Iowa State she helped in student government and the Home Economics Education Club. Last summer she was an extension trainee in Webster County under the home economist.

A fifteen minute hail storm plus rain struck last Friday afternoon, damaging crops over a two by seven mile area from west of Greene to near Packard. Corn, soy beans, oats, gardens and fruit trees suffered heavy losses. shade trees shed leaves.
