ASC Reports Results Of Conservation Plan In Butler County

Butler county farmers increasingly use or have used the federal cost sharing ACP to address soil and water conservation. In 1959 cost sharing covered 160 farms or 7 percent of county farms, with 221 more farmers having filed applications this year. Chairman Theo J. Bauman urges all eligible farmers to apply at the Allison ASC office, noting weather delays but ample time to complete practices before year end. The government covers about 50 percent of most costs, higher for high initial cost or long-term benefits. Applications must be filed before work begins.
