Samuel Z Thomas 80 Greene native died January 15 1966 in Chimacum Washington from injuries after being struck by a car. Born July 4 1885 in Allison he farmed in Montana before retiring to Chimacum. Survived by wife Bessie nine children one sister Mrs Gertrude MacDonald Savage of Orlando Florida and a niece and nephew Mrs Genevieve du Jon cay Greene and Harold Stevens in Arizona. Services were held at Chimacum and burial at Circle Montana.

Mr and Mrs Duane Tiemens of Manchester welcomed a son Jeffery Duane born at Melaware County Memorial Hospital in Manchester on Tuesday January 18. The infant lived three hours. Funeral services were at Sheeley Funeral Home with burial in Babyland at St Marys Cemetery. Survived by parents a brother Timmy and grandparents John Doran Tama Genevieve Tiemens Greene.
Greene High School music department presents its second concert next Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Featured groups are the mixed chorus stage band and concert band with selections including a Rodgers and Hart Medley a Great Tremes from Great Italian Movies and Westminster Waltz plus Trombonanza Concert March Dynamarch and 650 East. A trombone trio and a Marcellyn Curtis solo Concertino will be performed as part of the program. The band and Music Mothers are evaluating new uniforms with a sample on display.
The third annual mechanized farming show with the theme Farming Efficiency will run February 22 to 24 at the North Iowa Fair grounds in Mason City Iowa from 930 to 430 daily. Labor saving power equipment will be displayed and sponsors include The Utility Companies of Iowa Iowa State University Extension Service and Successful Farming magazine.
Mothers will provide refreshments before and after the concert. The concert will be recorded on tape in stereo for a possible release to accompany the stage band recording at the IBA convention. Subscriptions may be obtained at the concert, and 4 season tickets will be honored at the door. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Greene Rambler Batmen topped the invitational wrestling meet with nine first places two seconds and a fourth. Participants included Gladbrook Dike Plainfield and Greene with Greene amassing ten afternoon wins and Plainfield five. Final rounds show D Trees and Levens among winners with close decisions and forfeits affecting the 112-pound class won by Caswell of Plainfield.
The Floyd County NFC held its January meeting in Marble Rock Town Hall with officers elected. Charles Pyatt became president and Ron Muff vice president, Quentin Hildebrand secretary, Henry Thatcher treasurer, Floyd Howell trustee, Eugene Meier chair of the meat bargaining board. A sausage supper was set for March 22 at the Charles City Labor Center with Rev. Holtzbauer of Waterloo as speaker. A new cooperative dairy marketing association was announced to boost milk prices. Next meeting is February 15 in Marble Rock, with an oyster stew planned.
New resident couple Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ritter welcomed a daughter on Monday January 24 at 12 01 pm at Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital. The infant weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and is named Marsha Jo.
Coach Max Dougherty's wrestlers posted an 8 3 dual record, defeating Plainfield 24 to 22 last evening. Doug Trees and Larry Noel remained undefeated with wins by decision, pins, and near finishes, while the B squad won 18 to 9. The Ramblere head to St Ans gar for the Corn Bowl Conference tournament Saturday at 1 00 PM.
Gary Ross son of Mr and Mrs Clifford Ross was admitted to Field County Veterans Memorial Hospital in Charles City where he underwent surgery on Tuesday.
Ice fishing along the Mississippi River grew this past week per State Conservation Commission officials. Inland sloughs proved productive for pan fishermen from river sections. Perch crappie and bluegill catches should persist with continued cold and stable water. anglers use small crappie minnows grubs and red worms.

Mr and Mrs Angelo Stefani and their son Mark age 1 have moved to 203 South 4th Street from Arlington Virginia. Mr Stefani works for the city planning board at Charles City.
Greene Ramblerettes complete a 27 game conference win streak in an 80 47 victory over North Central Falcons of Manly as Ann Rottler led with 34 points and Sandy Brunsvold added 26. Jerry Eimers Ramblers followed, beating Manly 92 65 to avenge a prior 1 point loss.
Pearl May Mulford 79 died Sunday at Ahrens Rest Home Hampton after eight months as patient. Born May 13 1886 in Galt ta Spencer to Emmrilla Boyington and Spencer Boyington. Married Jacob L Mulford December 23 1908 at Hampton. Survived by three sons Ben Spencer Jacob Jr. three daughters Bernita Jones Velma Blanchard Evelyn Walker. 23 grandchildren 43 great grandchildren. Funeral 2 PM today at Church of Christ Hampton. Burial Bradford cemetery. Anderson Funeral Home Iowa Falls in charge.
