160 4-H And FFA Calves Were Weighed
160 4-H and FFA calves were weighed during recent beef calf weigh in for projects this year. Norval Mosher, youth assistant, reported to day. Of the 160 head, eight are for FFA projects. The breed count shows 70 Herefords 56 Angus and 34 short horns. Calves over 600 pounds were owned by many names including Merle Schrage and Mary Lou Squires. Mosher notes a 25 percent drop from last year due to high feeder cattle prices. swine and dairy projects are expected to rise.

Gary Slocum Injured In One Car Accident Tuesday
Gary Slocum sustained multiple lacerations minor cuts and bruises in a one car crash 44 miles west of Greene near the Hansen Welding Shop Tuesday morning around 1 00. The vehicle left frost covered road struck a ditch. Slocum was thrown from the car and hospitalized at Cedar Valley Memorial. Jim Otto riding with him was uninjured and sought aid. Slocum’s son Mry had a furlough before returning to Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver Colorado.

Butler County creamery boards and adjoining areas plan a meeting at the Farm Bureau Auditorium in Allison on Tuesday January 20 at 8 00 p m. William Patton county extension director says dairy marketing specialist Bob Stalin of Iowa State College will speak to help boards and managers understand problems facing creameries in Iowa. Attendees can ask questions and comment as ideas are discussed. The gathering follows suggestions from the Extension Livestock and Marketing Committee and others interested in marketing dairy products through cooperatives.

Rambler teams suffer narrow back-to-back losses this week
The Greene Community P.T.A. gathering reported on Rambler boys and girls close losses last week. The Ramblers fell 59 to 57 at Rudd to Rockford Rudd Marble Rock, then 46 to 37 in a separate defeat as Marble Rock edged ahead late. Guards included Tatum Allison Reese Reed and Kretzschmar. The B squad beat Rockford 43 to 39 before losing 30 to 24 to Allison.
