John Rover 63 of Nashua died at Alien Memorial Hospital Waterloo from injuries after a Sunday crash on U S 218 six miles north of Waverly. His son Robert injured, funeral services pending, Hammel and Martin Funeral Home Clarksville handling arrangements.
Mr and Mrs Robert Butzlaff of Charles City announce the birth of a son on Tuesday morning January 11 at Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital. The infant weighs eight pounds four ounces. Maternal grandparents are Mr and Mrs Harold Nielsen and paternal grandparents are Mr and Mrs Darrell Butzlaff.

A Greene Community School District maintenance building housing three buses and shop equipment burned Monday evening. Deputy Fire Marshal estimated losses at about 25000 dollars. Two older buses will replace those lost. routine routes adjusted as students worked on ongoing projects.
Greene wrestlers beat Riceville and St Ansgar to join Riceville and Nashua in a three way tie for first with 5 wins and 2 defeats in the Corn Bowl Conference. Mathers Texaco Service Station was broken into Wednesday night or Thursday dawn. Entry came through a west side window, with nearly $60 in cash and several checks stolen. The incident is under investigation by the Butler County Sheriff's Office.
Mr and Mrs Harold Shultz announce the birth of their son Craig Steven on Tuesday January 4 at Floyd County Veterans City. The baby weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces.

1957 Greene Community High School graduate Robert Shultz has received a history research scholarship at the Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University, Canberra. He is pursuing a PhD path via Wayne State University after earning a BA from the University of Iowa and an MA from the University of Omaha. The two year award funds 3100 dollars annually plus fees, housing aid, and half of moving costs, with potential renewal. His goal is college teaching in Australia or the United States.
The Butler County Swine Producer's Association Banquet will be held Wednesday January 19 at 6 45 p m in the Farm Bureau Auditorium Allison. Speakers include Roland Pig Paul and Bernard Collins. Officers and directors will be elected and plans for the coming year made. Tickets available from listed organizers or at the Extension office in Allison.

The Ramblers and Ramblerettes defeated Riceville 95 to 61 for the girls and 86 to 43 for the boys. Ann Rottler led the Ramblerettes with 31 points and Bonnie Siemens 27 as the team pulled away after halftime. The Ramblers built a 46 to 20 halftime lead and finished 86 to 48 with strong team shooting, Hagarty scoring 18 for Greene. The Greene Commercial Club meets January 19 at 7:30 PM at City Hall to elect officers and discuss plans.

LeRoy E. Truax, 24, of Parkersburg, arrested by Deputy Sheriff Marvin Barth on false drawing and uttering of checks. He appeared in Dean Wiegmann's Allison court. bond set at 500 dollars for next District Court term, not furnished, held in Butler County jail. Accused of writing a 66.67 dollar check to Drake's Department Store on December 17, 1965, returned for no funds. he is also wanted in Tama County on the same charge.

The Butler County Extension Service Corn and Soybean School begins Tuesday January 18 at the Farm Bureau Auditorium in Allison. County Extension Director Kay A. Connelly says the two day program runs January 18 and February 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with open attendance for Butler County farmers.
