A local group has started a fund for LeAnn Wilken, 10, daughter of Mr and Mrs Dale Wilken. LeAnn is a patient in the University Hospital Children’s Ward in Iowa City undergoing treatment. North Central Iowa Grade School Solo Ensemble Festival at Mason City yielded 112 soloists with 74 blue superior ribbons and 38 red ribbons among 16 ensembles. No white ribbons awarded for first time since 1957. 5th to 8th graders judged by qualified judges.

Maier Discharged Air Force Veteran Visits Cal

Mr and Mrs Keith Maier and daughter Joyce Marie arrived at the home of Mr and Mrs Donald Allan from Travis Air Force Base in California where he received his discharge after four years in the Air Force. He served at Chanute, Ellsworth, and Travis bases, with a two year stay at Ellsworth and time at Travis since October 1963. The Maier family will stay a week and then move to Kansas City where he will work for Maier Construction Company.
