Roger Stewart arrived Thursday from Kessler Field Mississippi for a 15 day furlough with his parents Mr and Mrs Kenneth Stewart. He recently completed schooling in the air defense artillery director course at Kessler Field and will report to Adair Air Field at Corvallis Oregon after the furlough.

Infant Patrick Barney Phalen, son of Mr and Mrs Mike Phalen of Mason City, was baptized at St Joseph’s Church Sunday morning with Father McGuire officiating. Sponsors were Mr and Mrs Richard Merfeld of Greene. Dinner guests included the Merfeld family and Mr and Mrs William Stabenow and Evelyn of Greene.
Josephine Cole 78 died Monday morning February 15 at Reiners Nursing Home Dumont. Born March 1 1886 in Traer Tama County to Elam and Margaret Daily she married Robert Cole in 1905 at Traer. Survivors include daughter LeNore Bower of Rantoul Illinois two sons Cecil Greene and G P Cole Great Falls Montana four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements set for Thursday February 18 at 1 30 pm at the Methodist Church Greene with burial Rose Hill Cemetery.
Rev. Donald Brong state missionary and camp director for Regular Baptist Churches in Iowa will preach at Calvary Baptist Church Sunday February 21. He will deliver the morning sermon and in the evening share pictures of the Youth Camps at Clear Lake near McIntosh Park. Brong previously pastored Baptist Churches in Russell and Monroe.
Sharon Next has been hired by the Woman's Club as supervisor of playground activities for Perrin Park during the six week summer session. She will have completed one year of college at Iowa State University Ames by spring quarter and is the daughter of Mrs Henry Nixt.
Dale Willey of Greene has been named to the Monarch Life Insurance Company President's Club for 1964. The honor is described as a select group by company president Frank S. Vanderbrouk.
List Fines Billy C Nitcher of Marble Rock charged with parking in front of fire station with a $10.00 fine and $4.00 costs. The fine was suspended upon payment of $4.00 costs and a $5.00 towing charge. Gerald W Curtis of Greene charged with speeding in restricted zone, paid a $20.00 fine and $4.00 costs.
The high school music concert is set for next Sunday at 2 30 in the afternoon. The stage band is directed by Ray Holtz and the mixed chorus by Marilyn Bundy. The event was postponed from February 10 due to icy roads.

Mrs Loran Duffield as Christmas Seal chairman reports Greene town collected 326.75 toward a 356.00 goal. Mrs Henry Bliss says Coldwater township raised 62.65 and Mrs John Backer reports 69.385 from Dayton Township.

Robert Skillen 65 died at home near Nashua February 19 after long cancer. Born December 9, 1899 on a Greene farm, he lived near Union Eldora before moving to Nashua area. Survived by wife Evelyn Hough two sons Charles and John and one granddaughter. two sisters. Services held at Chenowith Funeral Home followed by Hill Cemetery burial in Greene.

State Conservation Commission forestry officials announced shortages of six species at the Ames State Forest Nursery. European larch, jack pine, red cedar, nine bark, Russian olive and green ash orders exceed supply, while other varieties remain available. 1965 orders may be placed through Conservation Commission and Extension offices. all available stock will be sold through March 30 with shipping from late March to early May.
Sheffield held the Ramblers to the end of the third before Greene pulled away late in the final period to win 58 to 37 at Mason City.
