Rites Held for Former Resident Hartness of Bemidji
Joseph George Hartness 70 of Bemidji Minnesota died February 7. Born Greene February 28 1896 son of Moulton and spouse Helen Backus Hartness married 1919 in Bemidji and lived briefly in Greene. A Greene High School graduate class of 1913 WWI veteran 1917 1919. He was executive at First Federal Savings and Loan Bemidji. Survived by son Dr George Hartness Minneapolis daughter Barbara White Whitewater Wisconsin four grandchildren. Funeral services held Bemidji February 10.

Two Hunters Bag First Butler County Coyote Since 1963
Jim Miller and Larry Frerichs of Allison hunted at Big Marsh near Parkersburg on Monday February 13 and Miller shot a 35 pound coyote. It marked the first coyote bag in Butler County since 1963.

State urged to allow longer trucks in Iowa
The Iowa Motor Truck Association asks the legislature to approve 65-foot double-bottom trucks on Iowa highways. Ramblers Win Sectional Opener at Nora Springs Meet
Spencer Walker, 15, son of Mr and Mrs William Walker of Hampton, accidentally shot himself in the arm while rabbit hunting. The accident occurred four miles north and three miles west of Hampton when a .22 rifle discharged. He was taken to Hampton hospital and reported in good condition.
