Greene High School Music Department presents a Festival of Music on Monday February 24 at 7 45 p m in the high school auditorium featuring the junior high concert band mixed choir stage band and the 85 piece high school concert band Their program includes Carumba Cha Cha Banana Carnival for Percussion Overture Trombone Boogie Mount of Might Dance and Intermezzo Fantasia for Band Parada Espanola Flutes Flutes Flutes Sax Soliloquy and Tall Cedars The stage band performs Strangers in the Night Satin Doll Sermonette and others Music Mothers provide evening refreshments.
New resident couple Mr. and Mrs. Marlyn Wuach welcome son Kirk Charles born February 4 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City. The baby weighs 8 pounds 9.4 ounces and will be greeted by sisters Kim Jean Anne and Melissa. Grandparents are Harry Merfeld Paul Wunsch and their spouses. Great grandparents are Frank Kurtz of Geneva and Daisie Parker of Marble Rock.
The Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet will be held Tuesday evening February 25 at Greene Elementary School with a 6 30 p m dinner. Most scouts will receive awards and show parents their achievements as guest speakers from the Mason City office address the event.
The Greene Post Office will be closed all day Saturday February 22 to observe Washington's birthday. There will be no rural carrier or counter service on that day. Mail will be received distributed and dispatched as on every other holiday.
George Nixt a freshman at Iowa State University in Ames won the 191 pound All University Wrestling title at Ames Saturday night. He defeated Doug Baldwin of Aberdeen South Dakota in the finals and had previously beaten Ross last year's champion in the same division. Nixt previously wrestled for the Greene Rambler squad.
Union Lenten Services are planned for six Sunday nights starting February 23 at 8:00 p.m. in a rotating schedule among Presbyterian Brethren and United Methodist churches. Rev Harald Brockus leads the first service at the Presbyterian Church. Speakers include Rev Lyle Albrecht and Judge William Parker.
Mr and Mrs James Brunner announce the birth of daughter Kim Renee on Saturday February 15 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital Charles City. The infant weighed seven pounds twelve and a half ounces. She has two brothers Mark and Steve and is greeted by Harold Massee of Nashua and Edwin Brunner of Greene.

McRoberts Implement plans a grand opening for its new Greene location near Highway 14 at the north edge across from Massey Ferguson. The event runs Wednesday and Thursday February 26 and 27 with an open house, daylong refreshments, and door prize registration for attendees. The firm began in Greene 28 years ago.

Ranae Jane, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Clarence Jensen, was born Friday February 14 weighing 8 pounds. She will be welcomed home by two sisters and three brothers as Carl Jensen of Charles City and Mr and Mrs Harry Brinkman, wintering in Tucson, Arizona, are mentioned.
The Greene Ramblers lost 63 to 45 at Ackley Raiders last Friday. Greene led 14 to 9 after one, trailed 23 to 22 at halftime, then suffered a 42% to 17% shooting shutout. Siemens led Greene with 18 points. Nueberger led Ackley with 20. The Ramblers face Allison in a regular season finale and begin sectional play February 26 at Rockford.

In Charles City, Dayton Mather is a patient at Floyd County Memorial Hospital admitted on Wednesday for treatment. He is in Room 238. Tracy Steere is also hospitalized at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Army Specialist Four James E. Kiefer, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kiefer, re-enlists for six years January 13 while with the 21st Infantry at Ft. Riley Kansas as a mechanic. His wife Virginia resides in Junction City Kansas.
After a two week stay at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Cheney was discharged and went home to recover.
Mrs. Kathryn Duffield, local chairman, announced Greene residents contributed 307.21 to the Christmas Seal campaign. The drive’s total lags last year’s 319.00, with community support continuing.

In Vietnam Alan Trees serves near Saigon after a thirty day furlough with his parents Mr and Mrs Duane Trees. The Ramblerettes wrapped up their season beating Clarksville 63 to 49 but losing to Allison 92 to 62 in section play as Coach Alexander’s team finished 16 and 3 and claimed the conference title 10 to 1. Mary Rattler led Clarksville with 28 points against Rockford, Ann Roose scored 38 for the losers, while Donna Weichers suffered an ankle injury.

The Lincoln Day Fund Raising Dinner will be at Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines on February 22. Marilyn Maye, a renowned former Iowan, will headline the GOP Cabaret as the featured entertainer, with tickets through local precinct committee men and women across several towns including Aredale, Clarksville, Greene, Allison, West Point, Dayton, Bristow, and Greene.
