Plainfield defeated Nora Springs 60 to 57 to claim the sectional title after earlier semifinals over Colwell and a 54 to 48 win over Rockford. Roberta Rieves starred with 33 points for Plainfield, while Benn led Nora Springs with 30 points. Rockford beat Colwell 65 to 51 in the consolation.
Bruce Marsh son of Mr and Mrs Ralph Marsh sustained a shoulder injury during a practice wrestling session at Upper Iowa University in Fayette last Thursday.
Children four years of age or over are invited to attend the Story Hour on Saturday afternoons from 1 15 to 2 00 using the side entrance. Last Saturday featured Valentine stories and poems and treats for the children. Included in each Saturday's program are stories poems and records.
Henry C Nixt and John D Hagarty named to the first semester honor roll at Loras College in Dubuque. Both are freshmen. Henry is the son of Mrs Mary Nixt and John the son of Mr and Mrs Donald Hagarty.
Fifty six instrumental students from Greene Community Schools traveled to Mason City for the third annual invitational Grade School Festival sponsored by the North Central Town Bandmasters Association. Students were judged on solo performances with ratings of Superior. Notable scorers included Karen Jewell, Cheryl Brinkman, Dennis Edwards, Janet Jones, Gale Brinkman, and Tony Tornowske. Piano accompanists were Carel Tatum and Barbara Taylor. chaperones included Mrs. Howard Burroughs and others.
Funeral services for Theresa Feyereisen of Waterloo were held at St Joseph's Church with Msgr. Duane Brady officiating. Burial followed in St Marys Cemetery, Greene. A longtime juvenile department head at the Waterloo Public Library, she died of a stroke after injuries from a February auto crash. She was born in Greene in 1889 and dedicated her life to aiding Waterloo children. Surviving: two brothers, three sisters, a niece, and several relatives. predeceased by parents, two brothers, two sisters.
Raymond Schrody former Greene High School coach from Elkader is a patient at University Hospitals in Iowa City receiving treatment. He will stay for another month and is listed with a room number 336W at University Hospitals.
M K Sperry of Greene filed for the District No 1 County Board of Education seat. The post has been held by Gomer Evans of Clarksville since 1948 with re election in 1953. Evans is not seeking another term. District No 1 covers Greene Clarksville and Fremont township rural areas. Election set for March 9 1959.
Paul Katcher of Clarksville, a Rock Island Railroad employee, shows improvement at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City after being pinned between a dump truck’s box and frame while helping unload snow at Rock Island depot grounds in Greene. He’ll be released in about a week to recuperate at home. x rays revealed broken bones and punctured lungs. His son Eugene, stationed in South Carolina, was rushed home by plane to be with him.
Annette Smith wins singles as Sherman's Take Womens Bowling Tourney concludes. Annette also leads in all events with 1 306 points while Carol Schultz takes first in doubles with Lyla Truex and Lanora Shultz/ Truex lead overall with 1 026. Gertie Marsh earns highest single game at 217 in the event.

Raymond LaCoste of Greene suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash near DeKalb Illinois. He underwent surgery and was listed in critical condition with multiple fractures after his Murphy Truck Lines rig rear ended another truck on Highway 30 seven miles west of Otoe. Cattle hauling from near Dougherty to Chicago. Four cattle were killed and eight injured.
Gehart Holm 40, manager of the June Dairy Product Company in Mason City, died suddenly Thursday evening at a Mason City hospital. Born March 31 1918 in Tripoli, he served in the army 1942 to 1946. Survived by his wife Shirley Bisgrave and four brothers. Funeral services were held Monday at 9 30 am in the Catholic Church.
The Greene Junior High boys defeat Dumont 33 to 29 and girls win 22 to 19 on Dumont's court. Douglas Marsh scores 15 for the locals, Collins 19 for the losers. Penny Wharton leads the Ramblerettes with 14 while Kay Jamison tops Dumont with 12. The teams finish season at Shel next Monday.
Mrs C G Starkweather reported that her aunt Mrs Choice Sproul underwent major surgery at Glendale Sanitarium. Mrs Sproul, formerly Davice Boges of Greene, resides at 4953 Edenwood Drive, Angeles California.
The Greene Community School District votes for three year board terms on March 9 1959. Incumbents Harry Ott Coldwater district and August Backer Dayton district seek re election. Nomination forms from Stoke Wolters district secretary due February 27 by noon. Polls open noon to 7 p.m. on March 9.

Alison vite and Mistisrold Freeren of Ab, parents of a son born at Hempton Lutheran Hospital on February 16. The infant weighed seven pounds and died shortly after birth. Steven Harold is mentioned in connection with the notice.

Martin Reinicke 76 died Monday evening at his Parkersburg home after illness. Final rites Thursday at 1 30 pm at Bethel Lutheran Church with burial in Salem Cemetery.
