Iowa State College previews the New Ideas for Land and Living show at Greene High School auditorium tomorrow Thursday February 14. The exhibit runs 1 00 to 4 00 pm and 7 00 to 9 00 pm with displays on water resources grasses farming weed control land improvement milking and milk handling egg grading health in stock farming breakfast planning and home furnishings. About 25 specialists including Harriet Roberts and W F Bennett will be on hand to answer questions and discuss problems for farmers townspeople homemakers and children.

The Charles City Iowa State Employment Service office will host weekly Farm Clinics from 1 to 4 PM at 608 Riverside Drive starting February 14. William Shook Died Saturday in Greene at 89

William C. Shook born May 25 1867 Greene Kansas died Saturday February 9 in New Hartford at age 89 years 8 months. He married Selah Townsend on October 15 1891 in Smith Center Kansas and had three sons Harry Dale and Carl. Survived by three sons two grandchildren two great grandchildren and a final rites at Greene Funeral Chapel with Rev. G F Butler. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Gross Promises Quick Action on Egg Price Petitions

Congressman H R Gross of Waterloo says he will present petitions with hundreds of signatures from Bremer Butler Grundy Franklin and Floyd counties seeking a House Agriculture Committee investigation into price spreads between producers and consumers, especially for eggs. Jens H Petersen died at his Greene home on Sunday morning February 10 after a heart attack at age 66 years 4 months and 13 days. Born September 28 1890 in Them Denmark he later lived in Kleshorn Iowa Frederick Wisconsin Waterloo and Greene engaging in carpentry farming blacksmith work and turkey farming. He leaves wife four children eleven grandchildren two brothers two sisters and several relatives. The Greene Community Schools will hold its first regular school board election on March 11. Incumbents Dale Crosby and Francis Brinkman aim for the three year term, with nominations restricted to the old Greene Independent School District per a Gentlemen's Agreement to keep board membership spread across the district. Nomination forms are at Marjorie Wolters, District Secretary, with papers due by noon March 1 to appear on the ballot.

Cancer Society Officials Meet in Allison Iowa

Officers and directors of the American Cancer Society of Butler County met February 6, 1957 in Allison. Plans for the year include placing the book Truth About Cancer in all county schools and public libraries. A memorial book will be displayed at the Butler County Fair American Cancer Society Booth each year.
