The editor and Supt. Tatum urge Butler County voters to consider a countywide school system. They caution against sacrificing church, home, or school in pursuit of improvement and call for courage to publish ideas for evaluation.

Trapping and Fishing Seasons Close Soon Across State

The State Conservation Commission notes that the raccoon hunting and trapping season ends at midnight February 10, 1961. Beaver cannot be taken after midnight March 1. Weasel red fox gray fox ground hog and wolf coyotes have continuous open seasons statewide. Bass season ends February 15 north of highway 30 and for walleye sauger and northern pike. south of highway 30 these species remain open.

Greene Heart Fund Chairs Named for 1961 Drive

Mrs. George Koons and Mrs. Loren McRoberts will chair the Greene Heart Fund campaign in February, backed by Iowa and the American Heart Association. The effort funds the fight against heart disease, with a city-wide residential solicitation climaxing on Heart Sunday, February 26.

Hospital Admissions Report Saturday and Tuesday

In hospital notes Mrs. Duane Leavens was taken to Mercy Hospital in Waverly for treatment on Saturday. Leslie Barnhart was admitted to Mercy Hospital in Mason City on Saturday for treatment. No visitors will be allowed to see Mr. Barnhart for several days. Mrs. Paul Shafer was admitted to Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City on Tuesday for treatment of flu and complications.

J Francis Heinie Allan 58 of Allison died in a Waterloo hospital after a stroke at home. He ran an Allison automobile dealership and led local Republicans and county fair board. Two Waterloo men fined for intoxication charge

Edward Burke 45 and Vernon Lawrence 48 were arrested near Shell Rock Saturday afternoon by the Highway Patrol on intoxication charges. They appeared in Justice of Peace Court in Allison and pleaded guilty, each fined 16 dollars.

The 1961 March Term of Butler County District Court will convene March 6 1961 with Judge C H Wild of Waverly presiding. Grand and Trial Jurors have been drawn and must report March 7 1961 at 10 AM and March 15 1961 at 10 AM respectively.

Creamery Holds Annual Meeting of Farmers Co operative Bees Assoc

The Farmers Co operative Bees Association held its annual meeting in the high school auditorium drawing about 150 attendees for a noon free lunch. Leo Benson of Mason City spoke as guest. directors Lowell Allen Leonard Litterer Clair Johnson were re elected along with Charles Pyatt Duane Smith Harley Hansen. Creamery staff includes H P Geil manager Carroll Schroeder Charles Reams and others with Urban Kelly and team hauling milk. In 1960 the association purchased 20,000,000 pounds of milk and grossed 960000 dollars.
