County Mutual Insurance Assoc Held Annual Meeting
The Butler County Mutual Insurance Association held its annual meeting in Allison on February 7. Secretary Dale H. Brinkman reported 1960 insurance in force at 51,151,588.00, up from 1959 by about 2 million, with ten year growth from 27,012,000.00 to 51,151,588.00. Fire and extended claims paid in 1960 totaled 58,478.65 and a new home office was built in New Hartford. Board members reelected for three years were Aldrick Kneppe, Brinkman, Larsen, and Dekker. holdovers included Harms, Hahn, Deike, Schmadeke, Ressler, Brinkman, Dye, Wintz, Wickham. Officers for 1961 were Dekker, Harms, and Brinkman.

Civil defense classes begin February 28 at high school
The second annual civil defense series starts Tuesday evening February 28 at 7 30 in the high school science labs second floor. The six week program requires no advance registration and runs each Tuesday for about two hours. Open to all, with parental accompaniment for pupils below seventh grade. Greene Fire Department responded last Thursday to a basement blaze in the Albrecht building beside the Fire Station. Fire officials believe faulty wiring sparked the fire and were able to extinguish it with no injuries reported.
