Bert Pooley suffered a painful fall in front of his office on South Second Street on Saturday. He was taken to Cedar Valley Hospital for x rays where doctors found a broken bone in his left shoulder. He is recuperating at home.
Walter Schiedecker of Clarksville was held on a mayor’s warrant for failing to appear in court over faulty car equipment. Edwin Stauffer of Gilmore City was arrested near Allison for driving with a suspended license and sent to district court after bond. Melvin Stauffer, also of Gilmore City, faced a fine for allowing an unlicensed operator to drive.
Clell Scott 41 died in National City California after a lingering illness. Born 1917 he lived in Greene until about 20 years ago. Survived by wife four children Greg Jan Susan Colleen mother Mrs Clara Scott of Cedar Rapids brother Clar Greene sister Mrs Dorothy Bowmen of Cedar Rapids. Funeral at Immaculate Conception Church Charles City with burial there.
Mrs L P Stevens suffered an asthmatic heart attack early Sunday morning and is recuperating at her home.
Ars Liorascot, TB Seal Drive chairman, reported the drive closed February 1 with $347.20 collected from residents of Dayton township and 26 from Coldwater Township.
Mary Grace Elis was taken to Cedar Valley Hospital in Kes City on Monday where she is receiving treatment. Dale Ritter of Waterloo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ritter of Greene, underwent major surgery at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo Monday.
William Zmolek extension animal husbandman at Iowa State College will discuss recent cattle feeding developments at the Annual Cattle Feeders Banquet on February 16 at 6:45 p.m. in the Farm Bureau Auditorium, Al ison. L. J. Bodens teiner, district extension economist, will speak on the cattle feeding industry outlook. Tickets are available from listed Extension Office staff and local contacts.
The Farmers Cooperative Creamery Association schedules its annual meeting for Saturday at the Greene High School auditorium. Lunch is at noon, then the business meeting and officer elections. Guest speaker will be Leo Benson, general manager of State Brand Creameries.

Mrs Glenn Lindell broke her right wrist when she slipped on ice at her home Monday. She was treated at a local clinic and advised rest. the incident caused no other injuries or damages.
Mrs Dean Kiefer of Greene and Eugene Rague sue Ray mond L Joss and Harlan A Young for 6500 each over injuries from a February 3 1957 auto crash on Highway 18 one mile east of Mason City. Both were passengers in a Greene driver Dean Kiefer car that struck Joss parked on the south side. the Young vehicle then allegedly struck the Kiefer car, sending it into oncoming traffic.
The Parent-Teacher Association Carnival is held this evening in the Greene Community School auditorium from 7 to 9 o'clock. Events are planned for all ages and the public is invited to attend.
Transportation Aid warrants received for Butler County school districts. Statewide eligible claims total 4,984,551.77 with 3,000,996.22 available. 1,486 districts eligible. Butler County total 40,913.21. districts listed include Allison-Bristow 5,836.75 and Parkersburg 6,113.91 among others, prorated at 60.20 plus cents per dollar claimed.
Sadie Vorhes Brunner born June 4 1872 on a farm near Marble Rock died January 29 1959 at Harris Nursing Home Marble Rock aged 86 years 7 months 25 days. She married Jacob R Brunner March 13 1894 and lived on a Greene area farm. Survived by son Edwin and daughter Mrs Edna Merfeld six grandchildren eleven great grandchildren and brother Ethan Vorhes Gridley California. Funeral at Hamiltons Greene with Rev George Knutson burial Hillside Cemetery Marble Rock.

Mary Whitney and Donald Behlman died in a Saturday crash near Powersville after Heaver’s eastward vehicle struck the left side of Behlman’s car. Both cars left the road, burst into flames, and were destroyed. Whitney was a junior class president, Behlman a Charles City High School graduate.

The Iowa State Conservation Commission declares imminent fish loss risk in the Iowa River from Alden dam north through Franklin Wright and Beck counties and in the West Fork Cedar River from Highway 3 bridge east of Dumont through Butler Franklin Cerro Gordo counties. By order, fishing is open by any means except dynamite poison electrical shock or any stupefying substance from January 30, 1959 to March 1, 1959. All fish species in these waters are included.

The Ramblerettes lost 54 to 50 and the Ramblers 6B to 3 to host Manly last Friday. Gill scored 33 for Manly on 10 field goals and 13 free throws, while Mary Boller led the locals with 16 points. Manly led 12 to 8 after one, 27 to 18 at halftime, and the Ramblerettes tied 39 all in the third period.
