Greene High School drama director Charlene Everson reveals the spring comedy drama The Night of January 16th. The courtroom thriller features Linda Stuntz as Karen Andre, defended by Dave Bone with Jim Truitt as District Attorney and Clyde Grey as Judge Heath.
Nashua Ramblers dominate the Corn Bowl Conference wrestling tournament at Nashua winning with 453 points. Riceville, St. Ansgar, Nora Springs, Rockford, and Greene follow with 51, 50, 40, 35 and 32 points respectively. Rambler results include multiple first and second round decisions and a consolation round featuring Leavens Paulus Allen Noel Backer Wihlm and Dick Wihlm. Dick Wihlm suffers a 5-3 loss to Newton in the final round.
Historian Gary W. Rottler, son of Mr and Mrs Vern Rottler of Greene, has been elected historian of the Farm Operation Club at Iowa State University for 1965. A sophomore in farm operation, he has previously held club office and participated in many activities.
The Greene City Council in regular session approved buying new fire truck equipment for 3336.50 from American Fire Apparatus Company with bids for the chassis to come later. Arthur Weiss to serve as night marshal, replacing Virgil Hites who resigned February 1. Jim Wiers will take the extra night marshal role.
Edwin Marten was discharged Monday after treatment for a heart condition at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City.

Willis H. Edmund of The Goodyear Tire will speak at the Winnebago Council Scouter Recognition Dinner on February 15 at Holy Family Auditorium Mason City. The 1964 Silver Beaver awards will be presented along with honors for training awards and keys. The high school music departments present a concert next Wednesday February 10 at 7 45 p m in the high school auditorium featuring the concert band and mixed chorus performing selections from Tschaikowski to contemporary works. Performers include Pam Drakle on traps Sally Hammel on alto sax and chorus members under Marilyn R Bundy. The program includes Buglers Holiday Elegie from Serenade and My Favorite Things plus a Do Re Mi medley and Climb Every Mountain. A kick off for subscriptions to the stage band recording with Century Recording Company of Saugus California will be held. tickets are available from musicians or at the door.

Loretta Miller won all events in the Women s City Bowling Tournament at Greene Lanes. John Deere captured the team title with a 9552 three game score including handicap. Mrs Ada Hienmel of Allison is a patient at Clark Nursing Home following a broken hip treatment at University Hospitals in Traa City.
Mr and Mrs turned home after a trip to Michigan visited their son in Detroit and spoke with Rev and Mrs Gutler and pastor Eliza Gutler. The group traveled by train and returned the following Wednesday in January after a ten day visit.
The Sportsman's Club will hold an oyster stew and smorgasbord evening at the Veteran's Club on February 16. All Sportsman's Club members and prospective members are invited to attend. Special films will be shown during the evening.
Representative Charles E. Grassley of New Hartford will host a Tell Your Representative meeting in Greene next Saturday afternoon February 6 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Greene Community Center above the library will host the event inviting everyone to meet Mr. Grassley during his visit.
Greene high school reports two non-conference wins at home as the Ramblers and Ramblerettes beat Parkersburg 85 to 63 for the boys and 52 to 44 for the girls. Ann Rattler led with 30 points on 12 field goals and 6 assists, while Barbara Barth added five field goals in the second half.
Mrs. Claire Curtis underwent major surgery at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City on Thursday.
At the Iowa State University Forestry Banquet the Frudden Award was given to Leonard Kellogg professor of forestry. Aaron Campbell of Cedar Rapids received the Iowa Hoo Hoo Club Scholarship with Campbell noted as a forestry student and future graduate.
Four special fund drives in Greene aim to raise money for an electric typewriter for Christine Smith, 16, daughter of Duane and Mrs. Smith. Christine, handicapped by encephalitis from measles in 1959, is a Greene Community High School junior and honor student. She attends night typing classes and plans college after graduation. Donations may be left with Verle Arth or Dale Schroeder at First State Bank.
Butler County reached 912 of its 1964 bond quota as Iowans invested $10.09 million in Series E and H savings bonds during December. The year ended with Butler County at $804,501 in sales, 91 percent of its 1964 goal. Joan McWhirter of Allison led county efforts, thanking supporters as a 1965 quota of $860,475 was set.
