Waldorf J C football star on All-America team

Waldorf College Forest City earned several top honors in the 1969 All-America selections. Dan Wegand Greene son of Mr and Mrs Max Wegand was a member of the All-America squad. Waldorf went 8 0 and ranked ninth nationally in final junior college poll, with stingy defense and 207 17 point margin.

District Director John F. Hanlon of Iowa announces removal of excise tax on certain farm use truck, trailer and semitrailer bodies designed to haul animal and poultry feed. Unloading systems are integrated, using conveyors or blowers, with top loading access and powered by the vehicle engine. Conventional feed and grain bodies retain their tax status.

Greene Ramblers wrestling team earned second place in a Waterloo Courier poll receiving 44 votes from coaches statewide to rank the top 10 A division teams Beaman-Conrad led with 70 votes. First year head coach Richard Jaffe praised progress and noted the squad is young and should improve next season.

Frosh-Soph Ramblers Beat Dumont 46 30 in Ramblers Home Win

Greene defeated Dumont 46 to 30 as the Ramblers held a 26-13 halftime lead. Joe Shultz led Greene with 16 points, followed by Mark Bigler and Ricky Ebling with 9 each. Dumont's top scorer was Anderson with 10. Greene improved to 4-1 and faces Nashua next on January 5.

Christmas Eve Services at Wilmar

The St. John’s Lutheran Church Sunday School in Wilmar presents a Christmas program on Christmas Eve at 7 00 p m titled He Came Among Us. Debra Schrage and Warren Weigman portray Mary and Joseph on the journey to Bethlehem with innkeepers and shepherds also depicted by local cast. Junior High splits at Clarksville clash basketball recap

The Junior High teams split at Clarksville on Tuesday December 16. The 7th graders won 29 to 14 while the 8th graders lost 48 to 28. Van Eschen led locals with 12 points as Jewell Allison Wunsch Stark and Weyand added 4 or 2 points. Kampman led the Indians with 22 points followed by Ponto with 14.

Mrs Eva Kirsch attended funeral services in Ames on Wednesday December 17 for her cousin Marie Guendling 57. Committal services followed at St Marys Cemetery in Greene with Father Joseph Murphy in charge. Miss Guendlings parents Mr and Mrs Ed Guendling were former residents of Greene.

Purebred Beef Breeders Clinic Set for January 7

A one day clinic for all purebred beef breeders in the Iowa State University Waterloo Extension Area will be held January 7, 1970 at the Clayton House Motel in Waterloo. Registration opens at 3:00 A.M. Speakers include breed associations and ISU Extension staff. Greene Ramblers Defeat St Ansgar To Sustain Perfect Mark

The Greene Ramblers remained unbeaten with an 82 to 72 victory over St Ansgar, a strong rival, in a tight contest. Gary Johnson led Greene with 31 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds, while St Ansgar fought hard, but Greene controlled the boards 37 to 26 and shot 55.3 percent.
