Emery Neumeyer underwent a major surgery on Friday December 26 at Mercy Hospital in Waverly. The hospital report lists the procedure as successful with expectation of recovery in the coming days. Neumeyer's family requested privacy as doctors monitor postoperative progress.
The 4 H Club officer training occurs Friday afternoon January 2 in Charles City at St. John's Lutheran Parish Center. Officers from 33 Floyd County clubs are invited with registration starting at 1 00 pm. May Johnson reports groups will split by office after registration and later reconvene, with county council guiding sessions.
The 1969 census of agriculture will be conducted by mail in January 1970. Farmers who follow instructions, fill out accurately, and return it by mail will save time for themselves and the Census Bureau. Information is confidential and required by law.
The Girl Scouts will hold their burning of the greens on Kilassi's acres at the north edge of Greene on Sunday January 4 at 5 00 p m. The Boy Scouts will collect the Christmas trees for the ceremony on Saturday January 3 starting at 9 00 a m.

In Service Airman Marlene 8 Gallmeyer daughter of Mrs Helen E Gallmeyer of Clarksville has completed basic training at Lackland AFB Texas She has been assigned to Keesler AFB Mississippi for training in air traffic control and is a 1969 graduate of Clarksville Community High School.
Infant daughter born December 23 at Mercy Hospital Cedar Rapids to Mr and Mrs Harry Feith Barth of London. Mary Jean weighed six pounds eleven ounces. Grandparents are Darrell Barth Greene and Wayne Chapman Tipton. Mr Harry Barth is the great grandfather.
Gale L Brinkman of Greene enlisted in the U S Army on December 3 at Fort Des Moines for three years of active duty. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Francis L Brinkman of Greene and will train at Fort Lewis Washington then Fort Lee Virginia for stock control and accounting.
Mr and Mrs Jeff Dralle welcomed a daughter, Juli Anne, born Friday December 26 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City. The baby weighed seven pounds four ounces. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Jim Dralle and Mr and Mrs Duane Leavens.
The Greene Iowa Post Office will be closed on New Year's day. There will be no counter or rural delivery service. Mail will be received, distributed and dispatched as on all other holidays.
The county lists numerous property transfers including A J Hall to L H and Dorothy Butzlaff and others with deed values of $1.00 and various lot descriptions in Shell Rock and surrounding areas. It also details the Butler County Supervisors adoption of the 1970 Construction Program featuring 10.9 miles of asphalt paving 8.5 miles of grading 6 bridges and several other projects costing $132 000 plus carried over 1969 work valued at $439 300.
