Greene high school wrestling team edged the Rambers 32 to 11 in the local gym last Wednesday. Merlin Whiteside, Dan Wihlin and Rick Backer remained undefeated for Greene, with Wihli scoring two falls in two meets. Mrs. Lillian Skillen 359 died at her Charles City home on December 13. Born January 18, 1904 in Greene to Peter and Mrs. Smith she married Ralph E. Skillen on July 5, 1924. She lived in Charles City since 1956 and is survived by six daughters two sisters one brother and seven grandchildren. Requiem High Mass was at Immaculate Conception Church Charles City. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery Greene.
Robert D Folkers aviation machinist mate third class USN son of Mr and Mrs Frank H Folkers Greene is serving with Attack Squadron 85 based at Naval Air Station Oceana Virginia The squadron recently completed a tour with the Second Fleet aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Forrestal.

John Gersema has been a patient at Mercy Hospital in Mason City for two weeks and returned home Tuesday afternoon.

The State Conservation Commission notes cold weather boosts ice fishing season but warns ice can be unsafe due to air pockets. Favorites include Spirit Lake and West Okoboji for perch and walleye, Silver Lake Ayrshire and Lake Park for walleye and perch, Clear Lake for crappie and walleye, Black Hawk Lake for crappie and yellow bass, artificial lakes for panfish, and the Missouri and Mississippi rivers for sauger panfish bass and walleyes in backwaters and sloughs.
The First Presbyterian Church holds a Christmas program on Tuesday evening December 24. Young people will carol at 7:00 and the program begins at 7:30 at the church. The entire Sunday School presents the play Three Gifts of Christmas.
