Drawings Continue for Radios TV Games in Greene

Final drawings for two CB radios and two TV games take place Saturday afternoon in Greene at 3 30 p m in front of Tom's Stereo. Prizes worth 420 dollars will be awarded to winners chosen from names drawn, with winners selecting prizes in turn. Registration continues via Commercial Club member stores using special tickets. daily and weekly drawings for turkeys cash and merchandise also run in local stores.

Bentons to Perform Christmas Worship at Greene Church

The Benton family singers join the United Methodist Church youth and the Church of the Brethren for a Christmas worship experience at the Greene United Methodist Church Sunday December 19 at 730 p m. Sally Bertram Ron Smith and David Needham narrate while church school members sing carols. A fellowship lunch follows.

Greene Junior Senior High Chorus Christmas Concert

The Greene Junior and Senior High choruses present a Christmas concert Monday December 20 at 7 30 p m in the old gym featuring It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas The Twelve Days of Christmas Marys Journey and other songs The public is invited Also the Butler County Recorder's Office will remain open Saturday December 18 from 8 a m to 12 noon to register snowmobilers before the December 31 deadline.

Greene High Jazz Band Wins District Contest Trophy

Greene High School Jazz Band captured the district championship at Clarion last Saturday. North Central Iowa bands competed for state bid as Greene earned two outstanding musician awards and featured solos by Doug Ebling and Kathy Nordmeyer, with national citations backing their performances.

Instrumental Music Concert Tonight at Flow Gym

The annual pre Christmas vacation concert by the instrumental music department is tonight December 15 at 7 45 in Flow Gym. Featured groups include the Junior High concert band 8th grade combo 7th grade Jazz Band and 8th grade Jazz Band directed by Richard Holmes with High School bands directed by Ray Holtz and a percussion ensemble. The event is free and all are invited. A social hour follows in a get to know your musicians session organized by the music parents association.

Funeral services for John Edwin Marzen 59 of Greene were held at St Marys Catholic Church Greene with burial in St Marys Cemetery Rev Paul J Evans officiated Reid s Funeral Chapel handled arrangements He was born May 9 1917 in Floyd County IA to John P Marzen and Emma Fisher and died December 7 He is survived by wife Inez five daughters Patricia Kilby Susan Curtis Dixis Johnson Darlys Krull and Audrey three sons Mike Jerome John and 22 grandchildren Also surviving are father John P Marten of Charles City and sister Mrs Melvin Baldwin of Minneapolis

Exhibition of national printmakers in Greene High School

An exhibition of prints by nationally known printmakers is on display in the Greene High School cafeteria. The traveling show, organized by the Iowa Arts Council, will travel to Greene through December 21 with public viewing invited.

Greene High School claims the Mohawk Interpretation Festival top prize for the third straight year with Becky Wust named Champion for her Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. The event drew 540 entrants from 48 Iowa schools with Greene advancing 12 readers to semis.
