Harry Green was elected vice president of the Asphalt Paving Association of Iowa at the group’s convention in Des Moines. Merrill G. Norris of Ottumwa was elected president. Greene attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Harry Green, Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Brunsma, and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Senne.

In Clarksville Daryl Tillman paid a $25 fine plus $5 costs in Justice of Peace Frank Knight's court on a charge of failure to yield one half of the traveled portion of a highway.
Mrs Glenn E. Ressler of Greene and Mrs Neil Stauffer of Clarksville returned home last Wednesday evening from a trip to California. They attended the funeral of Mrs Ressler's brother Eugene Sinnott in Lynwood and visited relatives in San Diego.

Mrs Bert Hagarty traveled by jet to Nassau Bahamas for the installation of her son the Most Rev Paul Hagarty O.B. as the first Bishop of the newly created Diocese of Nassau on December 11. The Greene Community High School music department presents its annual winter concert this evening at 8:00 in the auditorium. Three Charles City residents Mrs. Herbert Haut age 33 her daughter Mary Ann age 8 and Mrs. Vendelenere Kirkendahl age 38 were killed when their car collided with a stock truck driven by Wilbur Klemme age 22 on a curve two and a half miles northwest of Charles City last Thursday. Klemme's injuries were not serious. The Haut family had lived in Greene in 1948-49. Mrs. Haut survived by husband and son Larry and two sisters. Funeral services for Mrs Haut were held at the Lutheran Church in Charles City. Mrs. Kirkendahl survived by husband and two children Charles and Kay and funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church in Charles City.

A meeting will be held Tuesday December 20 at 8 00 pm to organize a group of adult and young farmers for farm record keeping and analysis. Record books will be furnished and a plan outlined for keeping and summarizing farm accounts through 161. Interested farmers are invited to meet in the vocational agriculture room at the high school next Tuesday night.
Henry Hubers, 39, of Orange City, was driving a semi that left the east of Junction 188 and 3 south of Clarksville Tuesday morning. The vehicle veered off highway into a ditch on a crossroad. Hubers was taken to Mercy Hospital in Waverly with severe facial and head lacerations and was issued a summons for not having control of his vehicle.
In Charles City the patient Mrs Clarence McCracken is receiving treatment at Cedar Valley Hospital following an illness or injury. Local medical staff report stable condition and ongoing care as of the latest update.
Roy Christopher aged 38 of Waterloo was returned to Allison by the Sheriff's office and charged with false drawing and uttering a $6.50 check given to Millers One Stop in Dumont last week. He pleaded guilty in Justice of Peace Court in Allison and received a 30 day sentence in the County jail.
Mr and Mrs Dean Elmore of Evansdale announce the birth of their son Earl Joseph born Wednesday December 7 at Shoitz Memorial Hospital Waterloo the infant weighing 8 pounds 1 ounce Mrs Elmore is the former Shirley Montgomery of Greene
Charles David Borneman age 19 of Aplington appeared December 6 in Justice of Peace Court on a charge of driving while license was suspended. Information was signed by Roy Hauser of the Highway Patrol. Borneman was sentenced to 5 days in the county jail in Allison.
Daniel Downing underwent surgery Friday morning at Cedar Valley hospital in Charles. He is listed in stable condition and is expected to recover in the near term.
Lawrence Homer Stotler aged 47 died December 7 near Plainfield after moving from Iola to Greene in 1939 and later to Tola and then back to Iowa. He is survived by Dorothy Wyatt his wife three sons two sisters and two brothers Funeral services were at Hamilton's Chapel December 10 with Rev. Darrell Frymin. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Lt and Mrs Curtis C Kohl of Ozark Alabama greet a son born Nov 20 named Clinton Daniel. Grandparents Vernon Kohl Parkersburg Everett Squires Greene. Kit and Mrs James Downing Charles City welcome daughter born Dec 1 weighing nine pounds six ounces named Catherine Fran OS. Wayne Miller Allison and Mrs Miller former Joan Henning of Greene celebrate a son born Sun Dec 11 weighing seven pounds six ounces named Danny Blaine.
Mrs Fawin Brunner is back home Saturday after a stay at Cedar Valley hospital in Charles City.
Ramblers win 3 in conference and 73 to 56 over Nashua. Tom Green scores 30 to lead Rambler attack, with Gabe, Rottier, and Marsh contributing on offense and defense. Rambler reserves hand Nashua a 29 to 1 edge. Ramblerettes split Reinbeck, Varsity edging 45 to 42 after a see-saw finale.
Jerrey Tom, infant son of Mr and Mrs Jerry Eimers, was baptized during Sunday morning worship at St Peter's Lutheran Church. Sponsors were Emil Eimers of Burt and Mrs Charles Weed of Waterloo. Guests in the Eimers home included Mrs Peter Schommer of Jesup, Mrs Louise Gales, Charles Weed, and Mrs Emil Eimers.
