Fire Claims Two Dumont Children
Funeral services were held in Dumont for Brian Maifield four and Terri Ditzman five who died in a barn fire Wednesday. The two played in the Maifield barn while their mother prepared a piano lesson. Fire destroyed the two story frame barn and aroused a rescue attempt that found the children’s bodies about 6:00 p.m. Both families mourn their young losses as funeral services were conducted at Salem United Brethren Church with burial in Dumont Cemetery.

The Powersville Alliance Church moves December 11 to 8th and Clinton, Charles City, to begin services in a new building valued at 50 000 dollars. Ground breaking was April 10 and the structure, 46 by 70 feet, seats 200 with a large colored glass window, nursery, eight classrooms, full basement, modern kitchen, rest rooms, pastor’s study, library, assembly and furnace room.
