Bristow News reports a string of social visits and gatherings around Bristow area households. Names include Mrs. Percy Merrill, Mrs. Al Wendt, M&M Ben Van Dyke, M&M Melvin Sherman, and many others visiting in Dumont Hampton Parkersburg and Dumont area homes. Community events feature Oak Hill Cemetery Society meeting with gift exchange and hostesses.
Rev. and Mrs. Robert Foster attended a Coast Guard Auxiliary event at Clear Lake where Rev Foster was elected Vice Commander and Chaplain for the northern area and also Commanding Officer. Numerous local families celebrated Thanksgiving across several towns with visits, dinners, and travel, including longstanding residents and visitors from Des Moines, Hampton, Mason City, and Charles City. The UM subdistrict ministerial meeting gathered 19 at the Aredale Church, with the ladies serving dinner, and two members united with the church Mark Peyton and Vicki Dye.
M M Hinrich Jensen of Parkersburg and Mrs. Dewayne DeBerg with Pam and Stacy visited Friday afternoon at the home of M M Harold Harms. M M Wayne Kramer and family of Jesup were Thursday evening guests at Wayne's parents. M M Kurt Kramer hosted Saturday afternoon at Mrs. Bernice Wilder's, then was a Saturday evening guest at Mrs. Al Wendt's home.
Mark Miller and M&M Miller announce the birth of Nathan Lee on December 2 at Waverly Municipal Hospital. He is welcomed home by two year old sister Jennifer. Grandparents are Grace Thomason and LeRoy Miller. Great grandmother is Herman Miller.

M M Neal Wedeking celebrate the birth of a daughter Lori Jo born November 19 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital Charles City weight 9 pounds 2 ounces. Sisters Kristine Cathy and Mary Ann greet her. Grandparents Darrell and Marge Kingery Nashua Greene and Arlie Wedeking Marble Rock. Paul Bisgard of West Bend and former Greene residents celebrate a son Jace Tyrone born November 25 weight 6 pounds 2 ounces. Brothers Shannon and Cully welcome him home.
Mrs Bert Kampman of Clarksville visited Dale Ver Plank on Thursday. Mrs Neil Pfaltzgraff of Cedar Falls visited Dale Ver Plank. Pat and Jeanne Wegand visited Esther Clapham. M M Duane Franklin and Archie Raymond visited Cora Raymond. M M Don Riggins and family from Rockford visited Walter Heaford. Greene is a good place to do your Christmas shopping.
The Iowa Crop and Livestock Reporting Service will conduct a Nov December survey of winter wheat cattle hogs and poultry production with special focus on fall wheat acreage. Results will estimate 1977 state and national acreage and hog inventory and farrowing intentions. Data release dates span December through February.
Third District Congressman Charles Grassley urged all Iowans to reexamine estate plans in light of the new complex estate tax law effective January 1. He noted changes such as liberalized marital deductions and revised valuation methods and suggested seeking professional help to interpret the law.
