Snow Blanket Spreads Across Greene County Over Weekend
Snow blanketed the Greene area with 5 to 6 inches as blustery winds driven by an ending Indian summer left fields, trees, and wires frosted. Temperatures stayed below freezing dipping to seven above as ice formed across the river and ice settled Monday night.
Student bowler sets school high for girls in three years
About 327 students were sent home for a half day vacation at 11 a.m. Rhonda Landers bowled a 200 in P E class, the highest by a girl in three years or more, and she is a senior, daughter of M M Landers.

Boiler mishap cancels school at Greene Elementary
A fan blade broke on the broiler at Greene Elementary School Monday causing the motor to burn out and heat supply to fail. The disruption prompted school officials to cancel classes as repairs were arranged. Local maintenance crews were dispatched to restore heating and ensure building safety.

Greene Rams defeated Nashua 77 to 50 in the conference opener. Rich Allison led with 32 points while Jim Van Eschen and Paul Anderson added double digit support as Greene shot 49.2 percent and dominated the boards, despite early pressure from Nashua. The Rams travel to North Central Friday for their next game.
