Walkathon rails in Greene raises funds for Way Station
About 60 participants including children walked 11 miles Sunday to benefit the Way Station in Greene. They gathered pledges, endured heat, and stopped at Camp Comfort for water and snacks. Organizers credited community support and sponsors for the more than 1250 dollars raised.

Langenhagen Rites Held for Wayne Langenhagen
Wayne Langenhagen born October 5 1902 in South Bend Indiana died August 19 in Mason City after a two week illness and seven weeks in hospital at age 70 years 10 months and 14 days. He lived in Davenport Greene Des Moines Baltimore Mason City and Greene and worked as projectionist and electrician. Funeral services were held August 22 at Major Erickson Funeral Home Mason City with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery Greene.

United Methodist Church marks 100th anniversary
Plans are underway to observe the 100th anniversary of Marble Rock United Methodist Church. Committees have been appointed and are working. The event will be celebrated at the church on Sunday afternoon September 16. Last Chance Camp runs August 31 through September 3 at NE Iowa Campsite Bristow. It is sponsored by Minnesota Bible College Rochester Minnesota for youth. Public is invited to evening services each night at 7 30 p.m.

Rainy July races moved to August 26 at Butler Co Fair Grounds
The motorcycle races scheduled for July at the Butler County Fair Grounds were rained out and rescheduled for Sunday afternoon August 26 at 2 p.m. The Badger Racing Association of Minneapolis says top Midwest drivers will compete for points this late in the season. Youth Gathering Trip to Houston Highlights
Beth Metzger and Julie Johnson of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Greene joined 45 youths for the All Lutheran Youth Gathering in Houston. The group traveled two days from Waverly Aug 3 by Iowa Coaches bus, with a Tulsa overnight. Activities at Astro Dome drew 21 000 nightly participants, featuring speakers Tom Skinner Gerry Glaser and Herb Brokering plus entertainers Johnny Cash Mary Travers Kris Kristofferson Arch Bishop Sheen and others. They toured NASA Space Center Galveston and the Gulf of Mexico before returning home Aug 10.
