Marble Rock alumni mark 50th Class of 1907 reunion

The Marble Rock High School alumni picnic featured the Class of 1907 reunion and fiftieth graduation anniversary with forty six registrants at Marble Rock Park on Sunday August 11. Eleven living members attended including Alice Eggleston Glen Crabtree Helen Beeler Maxson June Gray Johnson Lois Campbell Scofield Julia Bailey others were unable to attend. Officers for the coming year are President Verne Arthur and Secretary Treasurer Pearl Knoop. The day featured reminiscences and a steady flow of local visits noted in Marble Rock, Iowa.

W S C S Holds Regular Meeting at Methodist Church

The Women's Society of Christian Service met Thursday afternoon at the Methodist Church for a Cookie Day. Mrs. L. S. Wentworth led a lesson an imaginary Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands tour highlighting missionary efforts and noting no orphanages on the islands as orphans are raised in family homes. Guest Ila Novak of Mason City joined her aunt Mrs. Earl Arhart. coffee and cookies were served.

Class of 1907 Hosts Dinner At Club Iowa

Mrs Helen Beeler Maxson of Marble Rock High School class of 1907 acted as hostess for a dinner party at Club Iowa Saturday evening. Former classmates and spouses sat at a table with red and white roses and a candle for each member. Friends of the alumni picnic included Lawrence Cates Wayne MecCary and several Marble Rock area residents.

Scout Grounds Thrive With Activity At Marble Rock

The new Boy Scout grounds north of Marble Rock see heavy use as Sundays bring scouts from multiple counties for inspections. Members of the Order of the Arrow have been assembling seats in a natural amphitheatre, creating a council ring capable of seating six hundred to eight hundred people.

Bridge Club Meets at Keith Residence for A Lively Afternoon

Mrs Bird Keith hosted the Wednesday Bridge Club at the Keith residence. A one o clock luncheon was served at Club Iowa. The afternoon featured bridge with high score awarded to Mrs Cecil Swant and second to Mrs Marcus Staudt. Guests included Mrs Maude Vorhes Mrs Rudy Schwartz and Mrs Pearl Thomas of California.
