Fred C. Debner aged 94 died at his farm home on Saturday afternoon July 30 from old age complications. Born October 25 1865 in Lowden Cedar County he moved to Wilmar as a child and was longtime member of St John Lutheran Church. Survived by wife Minnie two sons William H Greene Ferdinand nine grandchildren thirteen great grandchildren and one infant son deceased. Funeral 1 30 p m Tuesday August 2 at home and 2 p m at St John Lutheran Church Monticello officiated by Rev John Willis Burial in North Wilmar Cemetery. Hamiltons Funeral Chapel in charge.
The Men's City Bowling Association will convene Thursday evening August 18 at 8 o'clock in Don's Lanes. Officers for the coming season will be elected and the City Tournament will be organized. All men bowlers are urged to attend.

George Maurice Delker son of John and Mary Delker born April 19 1885 in Coldwater township died August 4 at home aged 75 3 15 following strokes. Lifelong Butler County resident he and his brother Flosh ran the home place he played in bands 50 years and at county fairs 35 years. Survived by wife Ethel bonds Downson a brother Floyd a son George and an aunt Ruth Sargent Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev George Knutson officiating.
Harold Shultz arrived home Saturday morning after receiving a discharge from the Navy. He served four years and was stationed in Puerto Rico for the past seven months.

Miss Persis Pooley arrived Monday and visited the Bert Pooley and Vernon Rottler families. She had traveled from Corpus Christi Texas and spent a week in New Iberia Louisiana helping establish a new library at the naval air station there.
Sheriff Pete Boomgard arrested Larry Mason 19 and Richard Nelson 18 of Greene and Max Van Raden 16 of Allison on Disturbing the Peace after a fight at the county fair. Mason and Nelson pleaded guilty in J P Court in Allison, receiving $50 and $100 fines respectively, with release from jail and payment due by Tuesday night August 9. Van Raden’s case remains pending.
The Saturday August 13 event at Round Grove Golf and Country Club was canceled due to no band being available. The community notice states the dance will not take place as planned and no alternative date was announced.
Charles Hurd was released and returned home Saturday from St Joseph Mercy hospital in Mason City after a two week stay for treatment.
The Greene Little League and Babe Ruth League split outcomes with a win over visiting Rudd 13 to 0 and 2 to 1 before losing to Rockford 17 to 16 and 7 to 1. Greene clinched the league crown by beating Rudd 13 to 5 as Jim Drakle collected two hits and Wood of Rudd hit a key triple.
The Butler County Fair opened Friday August 5 and closed Monday evening August 8 with about 12,500 attendees. Greene hosts its first Ridiculous Day on August 19 with merchants displaying wares on streets and sidewalks. Merchants and staff must dress for the event or face jail. Activities run 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. including a merchant parade at 9 a.m. and a pet and doll parade at 1:30 p.m. Rides and dunk stand attractions promise family fun all day.
George A. Downs died this morning at the Clark Rest Home in Greene. Funeral services are set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hamilton's Funeral Chapel with Rev. George Knutson officiating. Hamilton's Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Ed Barth 92, former Greene resident, died Monday in Largo Florida from age related complications. Survived by son Dr Paul Barth Waterlog and daughter Mrs Frank Hess Largo. wife Vena Moss Greene preceded him. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery to be held at a later date.
Captain James Heckman and family are visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs Merle Heckman in Chariton with relatives before he heads to the Alconburg RAF station in England. He has served 13 years and will return to the United States for his family before joining England duties for three years. His wife Margery Van Dyke of Chariton and their two children Dan, 2, and Joyce, 1, are with him.
