Interstate Power will cut electricity to Greene twice this week for four hours each to switch to a 69 000 volt line from Rudd Junction to the Greene substation. Outages set for 12 30 a.m. Thursday August 2 and Saturday August 4. The upgrade aims to improve service and reliability with a standby 69 000 volt connection to Iowa Public Service.

Born October 31 1895 in Allison to William and Wilhelmina Miller nee Koenig he is survived by his wife Anna of Bristow two brothers Ed of Bristow and Henry of Greene three sisters Hulda Voights of Greene Velma Steere of Allison Lena Miller of Bristow. Funeral services were held Monday July 30 at St Peter s Lutheran Church Greene with burial at St John s Cemetery Wilmar. The Rev Paul Metzger officiated Reid s Funeral Chapel assisted with arrangements.

The Joint County Board of Education adopted a tentative 1973-74 general fund budget of 5177,860 with a total tax askings of 465,300, plus 67,800 for new programs. Net increase in general budget is 24,060 or 4.87 percent, reduced by an unencumbered balance of 14,000. Several special education staff additions are funded 100 percent by state aid, to be received after the year. An Aug. 20 budget hearing will be held at 8 p.m. in Allison Iowa.

Beginning Band Draws Dozens After Summer Trial

Mrs. Jessie Lockwood learned July 28 that her brother Carl Kahuda 84 of Yucaipa California died that morning. He leaves wife Mary George two daughters Maxine and Coretta two grandsons and four sisters in Iowa. Kahuda grew up in Greene and worked at Merchants National Bank before move to California where he was station agent for Southern Pacific in Colton and later retired on a fruit ranch in Yucaipa.
