Walter Lammers of Allison a lineman for Butler County Rural Electric Cooperative was admitted to Floyd County Memorial Hospital Charles City Friday morning with multiple leg and foot injuries after a pole broke off below the ground line while the REC line crew installed a new transformer at Mrs A L Stanton farm.
Bill Walker Greene Sportsman's Club secretary-treasurer reports many 1964 members have not paid 1965 dues. He urges those unpaid to do so promptly, noting memberships include a one-year subscription to the Iowa Conservationist.
Mr. and Mrs. James Graven with 140 Iowa attorneys and families begin a three and a half week tour of Europe sponsored by the Town Bar Association. They fly nonstop from Chicago to London and return nonstop from Paris to Chicago visiting England Germany Switzerland Austria Italy and France. They are due home May 23.
The Women s Bowling Association of Greene will hold a meeting Monday evening May 10 at 6 45 at Greene Lanes. All women bowlers are urged to attend.
Greene high school instrumental department released state solo-ensemble ratings from Nashua last Saturday. Eleven ensembles entered. eight earned Division 1. Three soloists, Marcellyn Curtis Mark Ott Marilyn Walker, earned Division 1. Division 1 ensembles include flute quartet and trio, clarinet and saxophone quartets, woodwind quintet, drum ensemble, woodwind choir and brass choir with many named performers. Division II ensembles were flute trio trumpet quintet and miscellaneous woodwind group.
Mr and Mrs Bill Snyder of Tripoli announce the birth of a daughter on Wednesday April 21 weighing 6 pounds 8 1 4 ounces named Dawn Marie. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Harold Nielsen of Greene and Mr and Mrs Jack Snyder of Tripoli.
Pooley Lumber signs as distributor for Weyerhaeuser Registered Homes via E S Homes Toledo Iowa plant supplies precision fabricated components for local builders. Homes carry a 20 year warranty on wood products and a 1 year construction warranty, claimed as a major first in home building.
Maria Consuelo Quitiba will be honored at an Open House Sunday afternoon May 2 from 2:00 to 5:00 at Round Grove Golf and Country Club. Greene area residents may meet Greene's foreign student before she returns to Brazil in June. Bring 2 by 2 photo slides to the Country Club.
The Cup Scout pack meeting for March and April takes place this evening, Wednesday April 28 at 7 30 at the elementary school. The last pack meeting of the season is Wednesday May 19.
A driving safety demonstration for junior and senior high students will be held Tuesday May 4 at 2 00 pm. Sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance Co it takes place on fourth street between 4th and Tracer and 4th and Iowa street with area closed and curbs clear for the exhibitions. Glen Lindell of Greene helped arrange the event.
Mrs Harold Nielsen of Greene underwent surgery Thursday morning at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Greene Ramblers won their third straight, 9 to 4 over host Allison Trojans as Ott and Gabe pitched a five hitter. Greene took a 1 0 lead with hits from Ott and Barth, added runs on doubles by Clapham Barth and Ruffridge, and racked up two more in the fifth. Allison scored twice in the first, with remaining runs coming on errors and passed balls. Box by innings shows Greene 9 9 10 2. Allison 4 5 3. Weather permitting, Greene faces Waverly-Shell Rock in the first round at Allison at 2:00.
Steve Barnett aged 18, son of Mrs. Iva Barnett, has been offered appointment to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs. The appointment comes from Congressman I R Gross after a completed entrance examination. Gross had two vacancies to fill at the Academy.
The Butler County Tuberculosis and Health Association held its spring meeting at a Parkersburg cafe with 34 attendees at a 6:30 dinner. Dr David S Howell spoke on Tuberculosis In Animals, with Dr W D Yoder joining to answer questions and show slides from the National Animal Disease Laboratory Research Service at Acres. An award was given to Mrs John Healf for district seal sale work, and the Mantoux test will be administered to Butler County students and staff in fall 1965. The executive committee includes M Burien Sprole president, Mrs Kenneth Shear vice president, Mrs Henry Klkwart secretary, Mrs Frank Green treasurer, and others.

The Butter County Selective Service Office will close at Allison on Wednesday May 9 and Thursday May 5 6 so the board clerk may attend a two day clerk s conference at Savory Hole in Bes Moines General Lewis Hershey director of Selective Service will be the principal speaker at the banquet held on Wednesday evening May 3.
The Board of Education met April 26 1965 to decide makeup days for missed school this year. It was agreed no classes on May 31 for Memorial Day, with school held June 1 2 3 and 4. Seniors attend May 24 25. graduation remains at 8 pm. Absence policies apply during makeup days and a waiver request to the State Department is ordered for any unmade up days.
The Butler County Soil Conservation District organized its new board at a Tuesday evening meeting on April 20. Bernard Wyele of Clarksville was elected chairman and Arthur Lovrien of Clarksville was appointed assistant commissioner. Other members are Adam Schwab of Shell Rock and John Kilahsen of Aplington, with Melvin Dreier of Dumont and Walter Wilke of Bristow serving as assistant commissioners for the next two years.
Ten high school students have been chosen as members of the Les Studieux chapter of the local high school National Honor Society. Eligibility requires a cumulative 3.0 GPA and 3.2 in the most recent semester. Seniors John Stock. juniors David Bone and Linda Debner. sophomores Mary Lou Frimen, Tom Hegarty, Caron Kenoy, Amita Meyer, Terri Ruiy, Margaret Senne and Marilyn Walker were accepted.
Mr and Mrs Leland Dralle of Waverly announce the birth of a daughter on Tuesday April 20 at St Joseph Mercy Mosnitat in Waverly. The newborn weighed 9 pounds 9 ounces and is named Lisa Ann. Mrs Dralle is the former Donna Tiemens, daughter of Mrs Genesieve Tiemens. Lisa has a brother Steven and a sister Diane.
Jerry Hagarth of Greene was charged with parking in the fire station drive. He paid a $10.00 fine and $4.00 costs in the mayor's court Anthony Bamker presiding.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barth welcomed a daughter born Monday April 26 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital Charles City. The 9 pound 6 ounce baby is named Brenda Marie. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Claire Kepple and Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Barth.

Mr and Mrs Jim Babcock of Cedar Rapids are the parents of a son born Monday morning at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. The infant weighs 7 pounds 5 ounces. Mrs Babcock is the former Lois Menken, daughter of George Menken of Greene.
Five year old son of Mr and Mrs Quentin Hildebrand underwent a tonsillectomy Tuesday morning April 27 at the Flor d County hospital in a routine procedure.

In Des Moines Merle Heckman of Greene is receiving treatment at the Veterans Hospital. He will stay for several weeks. LeRoy Taylor was taken Thursday to a county veterans hospital in Charles City for heart treatment. Mr and Mrs Kenneth Stewart learned their son Pp. F. C. Roger Stewart, stationed at Adair Air Base in Corvallis Oregon, is hospitalised at Fort Lewis Washington for a broken nose from an injury two weeks ago.
A smorgasbord breakfast will be held at the Country Club on Sunday May 2 with serving from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. All members are asked to report for clean-up at 8:00 a.m. and bring a rake and shovel.

Bruce Menken had back surgery for a ruptured dise at Park Hospital Mason City Friday morning. He is expected to stay in the hospital for three weeks to recover.
After five weeks as a patient following a fall, Miss Catherine Feyereisen is discharged from Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital in Charles City. She continues recovery at the Chatauqua Guest Home assisted living facility.
