Robert L. Schroeder of Greene and fellow 4th Armored Division personnel took part in the Seventh Army tank gunnery competition at Grafenwehr Germany from April 17 to 23. A Greene High School graduate and Wartburg College attendee born in 193? the 23 year old joined the Army in December 1958, trained at Fort Hood, arrived overseas last May, serving in Head Quarters Company Crailsheim.
A Civil Defense Radiological Monitors Class will meet Friday evening, April 29, at 7 30 in the science room. Participants should bring an IoWa Road Map for fallout pattern study and a review of material covered to date is planned.

The North Iowa Girl Scout Council hosts an open house at Mason City High School on Sunday May 1 from 2:00 to 4:30 pm. Admission is free with a donation opportunity to support Fiesta expenses. Exhibits are viewable all afternoon with a stage program. all Brownies, Intermediate and Senior Scouts are urged to attend in uniform. Parents families and the public are invited.
The Round Grove Golf and Country Club will hold its annual Cribbage Tournament Sunday May 1 1960 at 1 45 p m at the Club House in Greene.
Allison Ray Scheidecker of Greene paid a total fine of 15 dollars plus 11 dollars costs in Ralph McCready's Court in Allison on a charge of assault. He was taken to Butler County Jail in Allison at midnight Saturday and released Sunday.
Robert Overson, 32, former North Iowa and southern Minnesota school administrator, admits robbing a San Leandro California bank of 1116 to pay gambling debts. He said he mailed the loot to his mother in Minnesota and claimed the theft was to cover poker debts. He was arrested by police and FBI agents after the note threatening violence.
Greene Community School hosts the Class C State Large Group Music Contest with 17 schools and about 1400 students. Events include Boys and Girls Glee Clubs, Mixed Chorus, and Concert Band. Venues are the Presbyterian Church and high school gym with a daylong schedule and a single all‑day ticket. Food by Music Mothers.

The program Medicine and Sports covers athletic injuries prevention and treatment with talks by Forest Evasheevski on face guards and Thomas B. Quegley on ankle injuries. Two exhibits show protective equipment and ankle sprain care.
Kenneth Herve returned to the Clinic in Rochester Minnesota for further examination and will not undergo heart surgery this week at St Marys Hospital. Joe Vander Kolk is a patient in Cedar Wey Hospital for treatment.
The Winnebago Council announces a record turnout for the Marble Rock Scout Reservation with 939 Scouts from 54 troops registered toward a 3000 Scout goal. Camp runs June 19 to July 30, with staff led by Scotty Thompson and programs across Camporees, Lion Cub days, and Webelos activities.
The Baptist church hosts a mother-daughter banquet next Friday at 6 30 p.m. with men serving and an 8 p.m. program titled Life's Album featuring 60 years of slides from 1900 to Grandma McRoberts's 96th birthday. The program shows childhood to old age, with songs and a slide presentation. The public is invited to attend the eight o'clock service.

Thomas Jensen biology teacher at Greene Community School is selected for the National Science Foundation Research Participation Program. He will spend nine weeks at Ames starting June 6 assisting Dr. C. C. Bowen on an Electron Microscope Study of the Blue-Green Algae. The stipend covers travel and cash. He will study algae sections with an electron microscope and compare structure to light microscope observations in adjacent thicker sections.

Heavy rains hit Greene and nearby towns Monday causing creeks to overflow. Aredale reported a 7 inch cloudburst in about 45 minutes. Basements flooded and first story rooms inundated while Marble Rock and Greene saw over two inches. By Tuesday morning Coldwater and Flood creeks returned to banks.
The Ramblers edged New Hartford 9 7 to remain undefeated in four games and win their 3rd conference game. Kenny Barth opened scoring with a second inning homer and boosted his average to .600 with a single. Larry Gabe and Doug Marsh led hits, while New Hartford mounted a late rally, but a baserunning play on a misread hit ended the game.

Carol Crosby will attend Girls State in Cedar Falls in June under the sponsorship of the American Legion Auxiliary. Miss Crosby is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Crosby and is a junior at Greene Community High School.
A group of 21 high school students traveled by bus Friday to the Iowa Academy of Science and Junior Academy of Science meetings at the State University of Iowa. They heard lectures by Prof Brown on Living Clocks and Dr Van Allen on Getting Man Into Space, viewed exhibits, and met peers competing for science scholarships.
An open Sina supper will be held at the Veterans Club on Thursday evening April 28 at 6 30 p m. Local residents are invited to attend and share in the community meal hosted by club members.
