Mrs. Leon Williamson reports that Sgt. Williamson received minor wounds from a mine blast while operating a personnel carrier in Vietnam on April 4. He sustained facial cuts and a side wound, was treated at a Saigon hospital, and is now back with the 11th Armored Cavalry Unit.
Mrs Roy Martzahn of Greene entered St Marys Hospital in Rochester Minnesota on Monday April 15 for treatment and observation.
Supt. V. J. Tatum will depart April 22 for three weeks to study German educational systems in Munich Berlin Hamburg and Frankfurt. The American Association of School Administrators arranges the trip with about 30 Iowa and national administrators, returning May 14.
The Greene Community School vocal music department presents a spring concert in the high school auditorium this evening at 8.00. The choir and a mixed ensemble will perform sacred and secular selections including pieces from the Sound of Music. Season tickets are honored and tickets will be sold at the door.
The Senior Citizens Club known as Sixty Plus Club will meet Friday April 19 at 1 30 p m in the Presbyterian Sunday School rooms. Officers will be elected and the program includes colored slides of the Mardi Gras trip by Mason City area seniors. The nominating committee will also give a report.

The smallest 34 percent funds county offices. education receives the largest share at 54.2 percent. 13 percent goes to state and local areas. roads get 12 percent and health and welfare 6 percent. Non tax income last year covered salaries for the county officials.
Expenditures from Public Assistance funds in Iowa totaled 5,356,375 for March, with Butler County accounting for 32,591. Old Age Assistance decreased while Aid to Dependent Children and Aid to Disabled rose due to higher caseload, contributing to a net increase of 90 cases and 714 recipients. Butler County breakdown shows Old Age 19,716. Aid to Dependent Children 8,566. Aid to Blind 1,008. Aid to Disabled 3,301.

Janet Welsh, five year old daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Donald Welsh, returned home Monday from Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City where she had been a patient since Thursday for treatment of an infection.
Greene community residents may preview an actual film from Revival Fires TV Program by Evangelist Cecil Todd at the Church of Christ in Greene on Thursday evening April 18 at 7 00. Lynn Arnold of Oelwein, area representative of Revival Fires TV, will present the film and answer questions about the program. The public is invited to attend.
The Greene Public Library held its final winter story hour last Saturday afternoon with Mrs. Robert Fischer as the storyteller.
The Board of Education and the Citizens' Steering Committee will hold an open meeting at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 24 at the Elementary School to review the proposed building program. If questions remain a special effort to attend is urged. On April 30 the bond issue to finance this program will be presented to district citizens for a decision.
The Greene Jaycees will fill sandboxes for children in Greene on Saturday April 20. Residents who want a sandbox filled should call Norman Graven at 823-4258 before Saturday.
The 1968 Butler County Democratic Presidential and Statutory Convention will be held Friday April 19 at the County Courthouse in Allison. Delegates elected in precincts and townships on March 25 will attend, with both conventions on the same evening to save money. The Central Committee will elect officers afterward and delegates will also be named to the May 25 Des Moines and June 28 29 Des Moines state conventions. Delegates headed to Chicago for the national convention will later elect a national committeeman and committeewoman.
Faith Baptist Bible College president Rev. David Nettleton will speak Sunday at 7 45 p m at Calvary Baptist Church on the library building project now under construction. He will be joined by a Girls Woodwind Trio from the college, which recently moved from Omaha to Ankeny Iowa, where a 36 acre campus is being developed.
The Ramblerette track team won at Dumont 82 to 31 led by Melinda Drakle first in the 100 yard dash and Debra Fraschi second. At Aplington the team finished fourth among 15.
The Cub Scouts will hold a pack meeting at the elementary school on Wednesday evening, April 24, at 7 30 p.m.
A meeting at Aaron Jewell's home Friday evening April 19 at 8:00 to organize a saddle club and drill team in the community. Open to all ages interested in forming the club.
The Greene Commercial Club will host a recognition dinner Friday April 19 at 6 30 PM in the First Presbyterian Church basement to honor a list of Greene area businessmen and women. Entertainment will feature a talk and pictures by Mr and Mrs Harold Blosser about their European trip last summer.
Mr and Mrs Elmer Mennenga have purchased the Dr H G MacLeod building on South Second Street Greene. No definite plans have been made for use of the first floor.

H Thomas Walker son of Mr and Mrs Douglas Walker has returned to Fort Leonard Wood Missouri after a three day leave at home He served an 18 month tour in Viet Nam with the 101st Airborne Division as a helicopter gunner then in a security unit walking night patrols near Pheku He later fired mortars and directed mortar controllers His R and R trips included Malaepia and Tokyo June 1967 leave then another six months He plans to return to college after his enlistment ends in September A Mason City Jr College draftsman former Caterpillar Peoria employee who took paratrooper training at Fort Benning and jungle gorilla training in preparation for Viet Nam in May 1966.

Harvey Alfers Jr of Parkersburg won the Butler County Soil Conservation Speech contest held April 9 in Alli son, receiving a $25 savings bond. Alan Kneppe, Parkersburg, took second with a $10 prize. Judges were Mrs. John R. Klahsen, Curtis Mu ney, and Arthur Lov rien. Alfers advances to the regional contest in July for a shot at a $25 regional prize and a state bid. The 1968 event is sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary IA Soil Conservation District Commissioners and Grinnell Mutual.
Greene Community School District voters face a 550000 bond proposal for remodeling the high school, adding facilities, and a 16000 bus garage. The Rambler baseball team defeated the Allison Trojans 7 to 1 Monday behind pitching by Eimers Johnson and Stuntz who held Allison to two hits and 14 strikeouts. Greene led at the plate with seven hits, Gary Johnson and Doug Trees two each. Trees added three walks, five stolen bases, and a double. Scoring by inning shows Allison with two runs off seven Rambler hits. Greene will meet Newman of Mason City Thursday at home, then the Rambers face Mason City Mohawks Monday at Mason City.
Mrs Louie Juhl of Greene and Mr and Mrs Leonard Paine of Mason City came home Saturday after a ten day visit with their daughter in law and son Mr and Mrs David Livingston in Oahu Hawaii. They toured Waikiki Beach Polynesian Culture Center Arizona Memorial and Punch Bowl National Cemetery and stopped in Los Angeles for a two day visit with relatives Mr and Mrs Albert Hansen in Long Beach.
The Butler County Association for Retarded Children will meet Wednesday evening April 24 at 8:00 at the Special Education School in Allison. Students will present a program reviewing their year in music and physical education. Officers will be elected and a scholarship awarded to Miss Joyce Heuer. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Alfred Heuer of Bristow and a UNI junior majoring in special education. Public invites.
The Country Club board to host its first stag supper on Tuesday evening April 23. Charcoal grilled steaks will be served.
