Harold Heeren was admitted to St Marys Hospital in Rochester Minnesota for treatment last Friday.
The NIAD Business and Industry Committee led by Bill Koebler of Charles City plans a regional brochure to spotlight NIAD communities. About sixty communities may contribute facts to attract outside Iowa firms. The effort aims to boost social and economic growth by pooling area resources and information for potential investment and employment opportunities.
PF.C. and Mrs. Bruce Maier and Gary arrive from Tokyo where he served twenty years in the Army. He trained at Fort Leonard Wood and Camp Gordon before overseas duty. He reports to Fort Bragg on June 1. They visit relatives in Marbles Rock and in the Donald Allan and Mrs. Georgia Barth homes.
Ray Kenneth Pringle 53 died at his daughter Mrs Donald Evans home in White River South Dakota on Tuesday April 6 1965 after a severe heart attack He was born December 16 1911 near Greene and survived by one daughter three sons his mother Lola Pringle and a brother He was a farmer and livestock operator and a Methodist Church member Funeral services were held Friday at Marble Rock Methodist Church Rev George Baker officiating Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery Greene Reid's Funeral Chapel in charge
The sophomore class of Greene High School sponsors a car wash at Teeple Service Station and a bake sale at the Gamble store next Saturday. Proceeds support school activities.
Major James Heckman and wife Vicki with children Bobby and others visit his parents Merle and wife. He has served in the U S Army for 16 years with recent duties at Eglin Air Force Base Florida. He will depart for France after furlough to be stationed at Chambery. Mrs Heckman formerly Delores Hall of Chicago Illinois and the family will stay until housing in France is found.
Plan meeting for members this evening Wednesday at 7 30 at the Community Center.
John Philip Reid of Madrid died at Lutheran Hospital Des Moines from a heart attack. Retired sales tax inspector, he is survived by wife Hannah son Andrew of Greene daughter Elizabeth Peterson of Des Moines two grandchildren Jack and Elizabeth Reid two sisters and nieces and nephews. Services are at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sundberg Funeral Home Madrid with burial at Fairview Cemetery.
Ralph Marsh underwent surgery Monday morning at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
A group of twenty one confirmants joined St. Peter's Lutheran Church during Sunday service. Shirley Allan Susan Astor Ano and Barbara Hansen Georgie Nelson Jim Shultz Wendell Stuntz Jeanette Tefft Dan Weyand and Linda Wilken were confirmed during the worship service Sunday morning at the Methodist Church.
The final Story Hour of the season is Saturday at 1 15 PM with Easter stories and poems read. Mrs Robert Fischer notes 80 children have attended since the program began on the first Saturday in October.

The Boy Scout Court of Honor was held on Monday April 12 in the estary school auditorium with a large audience including parents families leaders and friends. Robert Fischer assistant Scoutmaster was master of ceremonies. Troop 26 open ceremony Rev Wayne Gjerde gave the invocation and benediction and Explorer Scouts Post 26 closed. Dick Scroggins district Scout executive was guest speaker. Walter Wunsch presented tenderfoot awards to Dan Schroeder Marvin McBurney Ricky Adams Dave Petter Kent Jacobson Randy Knight Dave Blum Marc Majewski Tom Anderson and Jerry Shultz. Harrison Rowe presented second class awards to Richard Sterson Larry Lester Randy Knight Dan Schroeder Roger McGee Marc Majewski Marvin Burney and Jerry Shultz. Henry Smeins Scoutmaster presented first class awards to Jim Shulty Larry Lester Jack Majewski Roger McGee Mare Majewski Richard Larson and Jerry Shultz. Lyle Williamson received star awards. Harrison Bone and Dan Wisend received Life awards. Merit badges list included automotive safety corn farming gardening chemistry weather painting woodworking collecting printing textiles salesmanship and citizenship in water and community. Additional badges noted for other scouts.
The American Red Cross will open disaster headquarters at the Globe Gazette Building in Mason City to register flood affected families in Iowa and Minnesota. Hours are Wednesday 1 5 p m Thursday and Friday 10 a m to 4 30 p m Registrations close Friday Ruth Flynn of the Midwestern Area Disaster Staff leads the operation with staff on hand to assist applications and verify ownership liabilities and income.

A new 28 page four color booklet showcasing Iowa’s historical cultural and scenic sites is now available. It contains 40 color photos maps and foldouts and lists state owned recreation areas with facilities for picnicking swimming camping boating fishing biking and showers. Copies are distributed by the Iowa Development Commission Des Moines and can be requested via 250 Jewett Building.
Ramblers set to start their baseball campaign this Thursday at home against the Allison Trojans. Coach Eimers lists Ott Clapham and Allison as likely starters with Gabe or Kanter at first and Ruffridge in right field. Freshmen Drake Nettleton Eimers and Landers push for roster spots as the schedule runs through April to May 21 with multiple home and away games and a sectional tournament.
Greene Community school instrumental music department released ratings for a Friday solo contest in the band room judged by Mr. Don Perrine of Town Falls. Division one state contest qualifiers include Jane Witwer Mark Ott Linda Stuntz Ann Rottler Arlen Janssen Sandra Allen Jane Burroughs Cheryl Brinkman Linda Barth Carolyn Kehoe Karen Jewell Marilyn Walker Marcellyn Curtis Helen McBurney Mary Worley Sally Hammel Steve Barnett Greg Kehoe Terri Rutz Pam Dralle. Others earned division one non-qualifying ratings. Pianists accompanying included Sandra Allen Karen Jewell Cheryl Brinkman Terri Rutz Mary Worley Linda Stuntz Karen Barnhart Pam Drakle and several teachers.
Mr and Mrs Richard Frascht welcomed a son named Charles Clifford born March 30 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital weighing 9 pounds 1% ounces. Mr and Mrs Galen Lindell welcomed a son named Jeffrey born Monday April 12 at Park Hospital Mason City weighing 8 pounds.
Mrs George Merfeld is a patient at Clark Nursing Home after being taken there Monday morning.
Two hundred forty high school juniors attended Further Education Day at Allison on April 6. Representatives from 32 schools attended. Greene High School was closed but some students traveled to participate. Janesville and Waverly high school principals and Bremer County Educational Consultant were special guests.
The 1965 directors of Round Grove Golf and Country Club plan an evening of entertainment at the Country Club on Tuesday April 20 at 7 p m. A dinner and dance will feature Carl Schwenneker providing music for dancing with cards and social time.
Instructor Harlan Helm of Greene Schools receives a National Science Foundation funded scholarship at the University of Minnesota Duluth branch. The grant covers eight weeks in summer 1965 for study of contemporary mathematics.
Don Litterer was discharged Monday from Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City after an appendectomy performed on April 1. He is reported to be recovering well at home with family.
The Doreas Circle of the Methodist Church invites the public to an annual Good Friday program at the church on April 16 at 8 p.m. Mrs. Kenneth Jackson will read excerpts from the Good Friday story and the choir directed by Mrs. Clyde Stunty will sing the cantata The Seven Last Words.
Grassley notes pattern of defeats followed by reversal as the House revisits a measure to allow Aid to Dependent Children payments for recipients until age 21, up from the current cutoff of 18. The Social Welfare Department backs the bill to keep recipients in school or training programs to promote self sufficiency.
