Lovrien elected six year Butler Soil District Commissioner
Arthur Lovrien of Clarksville was elected to a six year term as Commissioner of the Butler County Soil Conservation District at the annual meeting and banquet held Tuesday April 5 at Shell Rock. Bridge Closures Begin on Iowa Highways for May Repair
The Iowa State Highway Commission announced closures of sections on Iowa 2, Iowa 14, and Iowa 294 to allow bridge repair over the Shell Rock River in Greene. Iowa 14 from Iowa 3 to Charles City will be closed to through traffic with no detour. reopening is planned for mid May. The Shell Rock bridge history notes a 1872 wooden structure, a 1902 steel rebuild, and relocation of spans, with local funding totaling 7000 dollars.
