D. C. Allen topped the results in the First National Bank Apple Show during the Fall Festival. Judge William Wetz led the judging as Putnam County apples were praised for high quality with notable exhibits by local orchardists. First class awards went to Northern Spy H. G. Willis E. Gill of Cloverdale Democratic candidate for Representative and Miss Wiley of Terre Haute a newspaper woman will address a Democratic meeting in the court room Monday evening. Both are entertaining speakers and an enthusiastic meeting is anticipated.
A Friday night town hall gathering in Roachdale drew a large, enthusiastic crowd with every seat filled and many standing. Speakers C C Gillen of Greencastle and Miss Wiley of Terre Haute addressed the audience.
County Clerk Harry Moore failed to mail hospital ballots for the hospital election while other absentee ballots went out. Hospital campaign leaders say he knew the election was upcoming and could have delivered the ballots if notified, prompting calls to remedy the misstep.
Milton M. Latta a World War I captain and his Republican wife announce support for Governor Cox and the League of Nations. Latta is elected secretary of the Cox and Roosevelt club in Goshen with Robt. G. Bock as president, Mrs Dean L. Earnhardt as vice president and C. Bonham Spohn as treasurer.
Mrs Louis Stevens and Mrs Bessie Sudranski Goldberg with Mrs Kenneth Peck Mrs E B Taylor and Mrs Ford Lucas returned from Indianapolis where they attended the State Parent Teachers Association convention.
Indianapolis hog receipts reach 6 000 with prices 25 cents lower at opening. Cattle hold steady while calves rise to 15 50 with strong demand. Sheep and lambs stay firm with best lots at 11.00.
Russell Township leads county prizes with D L Norman and E H Norman securing multiple awards. Winners include Lafe McGaughey J P Carrington J H Nichols TG Talbott and Leo Hazlett across yellow mixed and white corn classes. Residents praise North Putnam entries for top honors.
Federal Judge Kene Landis warned by an anonymous letter to stop attacking radical movements as he prepared to address about 4 000 teachers in Tomlinson Hall Indianapolis. He blamed the Socialist party for wartime damage and said the note likely came from someone in the hall.
At a meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John in Shelbyville Indiana fifty five women backed Governor Cox and ten backed Senator Harding. Delegates from Greensburg Milhousen Batesville and Oldenburg declared support for the Democratic nominee praising his League of Nations stance.
Dr. Carleton B. McCulloch, Democratic nominee for governor, told LOOGOOTEE readers that most women will back the Democratic ticket this fall. He cited moral standards, wartime policy, labor laws, and equal pay as hallmarks of the party.

Old Gold Day Activities fill the day at DePauw University in Greencastle with events from a chapel service at 8:50 AM to a full schedule including the Freshman Sophomore scrap the football game Franklin vs DePauw and a Duke Du entertainment. Pleasant weather drew hundreds of visitors for the daylong program.
The First National Bank shows a unique sign reading First National Bank First since 1875 formed from small red apples nailed to a blackboard. Mr and Mrs Tom Fled announce the birth of a daughter early Saturday morning.
A large crowd gathered Friday for Greencastle fall festival events including a mask revel and parade from the post office to the square. Ralph Confer and Mrs. Roy Hirsh bearing the king and queen were cheered as a key to the city was presented by Mayor Bartley amid the parade. A concert by the Greencastle band followed with prizes awarded for costume categories and acts by local groups and individuals.
Greencastle High School basketball overwhelmed Fillmore High 57 to 8 on the local gym floor. Ed Wright, former Greencastle star, coaches the Fillmore squad. Greencastle schedules Rockville away and Roachdale at home next.
