Mayor Fines Lineman on Two Charges After Insult Incident
Richard Nickerson a 32 year old Pennsylvania Railroad lineman was fined 30 dollars on two charges by Mayor W L Denman for public profanity and drawing deadly weapons following an alleged insult to two colored women. The incident occurred near the Garder Brothers Tee Plant as Nickerson reportedly struck with a shovel after a confrontation alleged by Russell Thaggard who filed the affidavits. Porter Cartwright testified to assisting Thaggard and two nearby linemen said they could not hear the exchange. Dr W M McCaughey treated Nickerson’s head wound and hand injury.

A. J. Titus, aged about 79, a longtime Fincastle farmer, was found dead in his bed by his daughter at his home on Thursday. Born May 22, 1850, east of Alamo, he lived his life in farming and leaves three sons Harold, Ernest, and Guy Titus and three daughters Estella Garrigus, Betty Johnson, and Ruth Titus, plus 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements not yet completed.

Mrs Laura Farrow Chapman aged 81 died at her Greencastle home from heart disease after years of illness. She had been comatose for ten days and funeral services are set for Saturday at 2 30 PM with Dr C Howard Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery. She was born in Parke county to Col Alexander and Elizabeth Farrow. Her husband Nathan Chapman died in May 1919. Survivors include sister Miss Grace Farrow and brother Samuel Farrow of Greencastle area.
