Roachdale Chicken Thief Arrested After Night Theft
William Saylor, about 60, of near Roachdale, was arrested by Sheriff Ritebforge and Deputy Bryan after a burglary at a Roachdale garage. He allegedly stole eleven chickens, eight from James Frazier and three more from an unknown owner, six of which were dead. Saylor is jailed as investigators examine charges.

Greencastle Band Takes Second in State Class D Contest
The Greencastle high school band returned home Saturday evening with second place in class D at Elkhart. Tell City won first place. Only two schools entered the class D contest due to official opposition to state events and travel costs. The trip was funded by the Greencastle Chamber of Commerce and local supporters. The group visited Elkhart factories and stayed with Elk hart families.

Love Pirate Senior Revue At Greencastle High May 6 7
Greencastle high school seniors present The Love Pirate on Tuesday and Wednesday night this week as the final public event before graduation on May 30. The original show features a large student cast with Bill Blanchard's Old Gold Serenaders, a sixteen girl ten boy ensemble, and specialty dancers and singers. The score is by Donald Grimes, Clifford Frazier, and Blanchard with the music arranged by Blanchard.

Concilla Truck Kills Horse in Early Morning Accident
A farmer's horse between Fillmore and Coatesville was struck and killed by a fruit truck owned by Frank Concilla near the Big Four right of way east of Fillmore. The driver Tony Concilla swerved to miss a wagon, the truck left the road but suffered little damage.

Funeral Services Held for Mrs Parker at Home
Mrs Allan Parker aged 89 died Saturday afternoon at her daughter's home on West Columbia Street. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 PM by Rev. Grace Black. Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Survived by three children Mrs Benjamin Turner Mrs Jennie Nelson of Brazil and Oliver Parker of Decatur Illinois.

Judge's Son James Hughes Injured In Terre Haute Auto Crash
James G. Hughes, 22, son of Judge James P. Hughes, suffered a fractured skull and broken leg when the car he rode in went off the road near Terre Haute. He was rushed to St. Anthony's hospital where his condition improved on Sunday morning though he has not regained consciousness. The vehicle was driven by Vincent Shea of Indianapolis. four friends accompanied him.
