Roy Guilliams of Russellville and Hugh J. Lee of Ladoga led ten Wabash College students elected Friday by the faculty to Phi Beta Kappa the honorary scholastic fraternity. Selections were announced during the regular chapel period.
Mrs Ida Pond, an aged woman, forgot her purse on a street car in Fort Wayne Indiana containing most of her life savings. Conductor Oren Woodward found the purse and returned it within twenty minutes, earning a company commendation and a personal check from an official of Indiana Service Corporation.
Harold Simpson a Notre Dame senior facing assault and battery with intent to kill will be reviewed by the circuit grand jury in May after city court postponement. He lashed Rev. Allan Heiser with a four foot snake whip after an off campus prom incident. Heiser treated at a hospital. university and Heiser family oppose prosecution.

The King Fish voice is achieved by voice placement not separate actors, with Madam Queen and Ruby Taylor noted as in-studio personalities for effect. Leo Daminski, 24, shot his wife Clementina Daminski 26 and Dr. J. L. Curtis 47 in a South Bend home. Daminski surrendered to police amid a possible justifiable homicide verdict. Three children witnessed the killings as Daminski waited to tell his parents.
In Franklin Indiana a local youth qualified for a snipe hunting event but stood for three hours with an empty sack as friends flushed none. The secrecy and long wait sparked talk that snipes may have disappeared from the area.

Indianapolis, March 8. Raymond Bess, 23, and his wife Peart were jailed on auto theft charges after driving off vehicles not belonging to them. A revolver was found on Raymond. Police planned further questioning about recent holdups and thefts in the area.
The First National Bank and county agent sponsor a corn germination contest with five farms contributing seed. Contestants pick seeds at the bank, decisions recorded, and tested over two weeks. The top picker wins first prize among five awards, with a home made seed tester on display.
From the files of The Herald 20 years ago Miss Millicent Coss planned a European visit this summer to join her brother John J. Coss who studied in Berlin. Cloverdale notices include Mary Sinclair elected W R C president with Brittie Gilmore as vice president. Miss Bessie Martin married Forest Steel at Elm Street home. Hurst Buggy Co. named Flanders automobile agents.
Indiana Governor Harry G. Leslie urged State Senator John L. Niblack to sue him over $15,000 spent on furnishing the governor's mansion. He accused critics of dodging duty as 12 residents pledged to return any part of the sum the board of inquiry finds owing to the state.
Walter Bidwell announces both Granada and Weycastle playhouses in Greencastle will be fumigated with Forma-Germkill Formaldihyde for ten hours. Ventilation follows to curb spinal meningitis fears, with Granada reopening Monday matinee and Weycastle staying closed until Friday March 14.
Milton H Day aged 75 and lifelong Fillmore resident died at his home this morning around 9 45 o clock after several weeks illness. Funeral service will be held Monday at 2 PM at the Fillmore Christian church. He is survived by a granddaughter Mrs Ott Lydick of Fillmore a great grandson Lee Edward Lydick two brothers John Day of Fillmore and Robert W Day of Greencastle one sister Mrs Gertrue Smythe of Portland Oregon and a niece Mrs Ray Smith of Greencastle.
In Peru Indiana a 33 year old divorcee Mrs Edith Floor was shot dead by Walter Kennedy 36 then Kennedy killed himself. A stray bullet injured 10 year old Harold Floor as Kennedy crashed into the home. Kennedy had been staying with Floor and suspected she was unfaithful. The incident followed her brother in law from Warsaw taking her to a movie.
The will of Benjamin F. Corwin, a Greencastle attorney, who died March 3, was admitted to probate in the Putnam circuit court this afternoon. His wife Christy M. Corwin was named executrix. all estate, both real and personal, was left to her.
Word received today from the Robert Long hospital states their son Hillis Shop ta ugh is ill with meningitis but continues to improve. He now shows only a slight fever above normal, a favorable sign.
The Purple robed Choir will perform Tuesday evening at 8 o clock in Meharry Hall after a postponement. The group has not appeared publicly for several weeks but has been practicing for the concert.
Vice president Charles Curtis and his sister Dolly Gann arrived in Indianapolis to attend the Republican Press Association convention. The group plans a blanket endorsement of the Hoover administration.

Loganport Indiana March 8 Russell Clark 24 alleged accomplice of Charles Hawkins who was seriously wounded in a grocery store holdup February 1st was arrested at Bluffton Indiana and jailed here today.
William Wiltermood, son of Dan Wiltermood near Russellville, was taken to Crawforsville Thursday night with a broken arm after falling from a tree at home. General weather expected fair tonight and Sunday with rising temperatures on Sunday.
