Stock streams with baby fish in Indiana hatcheries
Stocking Indiana public waters with baby fish from five state hatcheries began in May and runs to October 1. Superintendent George N. Mannfeld said counties with stock fish caplop naturally receive more fish in smaller lots, while later orders get fewer but larger fish. May distributions totaled 9,800,000 pike perch and 1,019,000 yellow perch fry, with black bass stocking starting in June and expected to be plentiful due to hatchery success. More than 1,400 applications were received before April 1 when orders closed for the year.
