Six needy children from the First and Third Wards will receive free dental care through the Child Welfare Association. The program, sponsored by Mary Jones Miller, a Putnam County nurse, will provide dental services Monday and Tuesday next week. Four children will be treated on Monday and Tuesday, with the remaining two to have their work completed.
The will of Charles M. Aydelotte of Parke County, who died Monday in a Terre Haute hospital, leaves 25000 dollars to the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and 25000 dollars to Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He also leaves 1000 dollars to the Presbyterian and Methodist churches at Rockville and to the M E church at Bellmore. Half the residue goes to Terre Haute hospitals. His wife and children had predeceased him.
Indiana dispatch reports three bodies found in an Oakley Grocery apartment above the store. Clara Raney, 28, housekeeper, shot Wesley Oakley 55 and her 6 year old son Carl Raney then killed herself after Oakley dismissed her. The incident follows a sash weight incident involving Oakley’s daughter.
An elderly man, claiming to be Ray mond Imard, about 80, suspected to be R W Gladden alias J W Wilson wanted in Toledo Iowa for prison camp escape, was arrested by city officers near a Pennsylvania freight train. He denied the charge and was jailed for vagrancy while fingerprinting was arranged to confirm identity.
The weather forecast notes fair tonight and Sunday with slightly warmer conditions in the north. Funeral services for Mrs Mary Ellen Shafer, wife of R W Shafer, will be Sunday at 2 30 PM at the residence 508 Hanna Street, with Rev Albert F Monger of the Methodist church presiding. Interment follows in Forest Hill Cemetery. Mrs Shafer died at home early Friday.
Marion County authorities suspect Frank Macy of Cincinnati is the torch murder victim in the High School Road case. Clothing fragments, rosary beads, and a bottle opener found in a burned Mobile, Alabama suspect vehicle are linked to Macy, last seen May 29 hitchhiking toward wheat fields. Investigators pursue positive identification and connections to other missing persons nationwide.
A county jail inmate awaiting transfer to the state prison has captivated locals with his singing. He asserts a long history as a radio entertainer and performs daily from his quarters, delivering clear, strong renditions of popular songs.
Putnam County Credit Association directors discussed a plan to stop the habit of passing wooden checks. Under the plan all recipients will turn such checks over to the secretary, who will forward them to the prosecuting attorney for adjustment with the attorney's cooperation.
Indianapolis has been selected for the first unit of the United States veterans bureau hospital to be erected in Indiana with a larger second facility planned elsewhere in the state. Kokomo is expected to receive the major hospital. The Indianapolis unit will house the regional office staff and emergency treatment facilities. Brigadier General Frank T. Hines advised Indiana congressmen. Announcement from President Hoover was expected.
Alfred Grindle architect and Bevington Williams Company sue the Methodist Episcopal Church in Putnam Circuit Court claiming a 6 percent fee for designing Green Castle Methodist Church and a proposed religious education unit. Grindle says total cost-based fee is 8789.91 with 7000 already paid. suit seeks remaining 2000 plus legal costs. The Bevington Williams Company transfers a 1000 claim to satisfy its portion.
Reuben B. Walb, 79, father of Clyde A. Walb a former chairman of the Indiana Republican central committee, died this morning at his home near Oliver Lake five miles south of Lagrange Ind of apoplexy.
A state board member evaluated Greencastle facilities and found the jail and county farm in very satisfactory condition. T. D. Brookshire secured the Meridian street paving contract in Roachdale, with plans to macadamize the road. The Pennsylvania Railroad added 2000 steel passenger cars to its fleet. Dr. W. R. Hutcheson attended a Monon surgeons meeting in Lafayette.
Ab Hensley, a Greencastle resident who had vanished from the county farm, is reported safe in a hobo camp east of Charleston, Illinois. Ed Shamel, a Big Four railroad foreman from this city, visited Charleston and confirmed Ab is well and happy.
Andrew Hirt formerly of Greencastle now living in Pine Bluff Arkansas sued Fred V. Thomas for 2000 on a note. The trial in Hendricks County ended with judgment for 2168.87 after Thomas offered no defense. Attorneys for both sides were listed and a counterclaim by Thomas was withdrawn before judgment.
The First Baptist church youth group offers the final lesson in a series on Jesus and His Disciples on Sunday evening. The program titled Some Great Missionary Leaders features special music including a vocal solo by Genevieve O Neal. All young people are invited to attend at 6 30 in the church.
Greencastle Kiwanis Club plans All Kiwanis Night next Monday at Greencastle Country Club replacing the regular meeting. The broadcast links to Atlantic City International Convention with dinner at 6 30, silent fellowship, songs, radio message from the International President, fellowship, and a talk by Rev Monger. Joe Crosby to attend as club representative at the national convention.
Greencastle and Hymera square off Sunday at Limedale Park with a 2 50 pm start. Manager Able plans Harlan to pitch and Mike Block to catch as both teams tune up for the encounter after recent results.

New enforcement chief Amos Woodcock will curb sensationalism and limit raids to lawful methods, with focus on large sources of supply while local authorities handle smaller cases.
Elmer Baker of Tong Beach California faced a motor vehicle license charge in city court. The arresting officer did not appear and the case was dismissed by Mayor Denman. Baker had been jailed in Putnam county and was later taken to Indianapolis for a trial on a similar charge. The officer failed to appear again, leading to dismissal.
